thinking of going with prime

    i've always wanted to drive truck and now at age 37 my son is older now so i'm ready to get into it. i like all i hear about prime besides hometime. i really dont like idea of 3 weeks on road before getting 3 days off! any other companys for newbies that are more like 5 days on road 2 days home??

    You can try that but alot of them will tell you, After you haver been here for XXX amount of time we can lookat moving you to regional, local, or whatever. Prime would be an excellent choice, and once you are established there you can get to one of the regional sites, if you want to.

    Consider too that with more than 3/4 days off you may have to give up your truck. That means cleaning it out if they are in need of it each time. Also look at benefits first. Home time is not that critical in the big picture as your going to get it any way.

    Consider asking for time off at some place you have never been to. Such as a relatives town or Orlando , something like that.
    Some carriers don't really care about where as long as it is in the routes they handle. Example""If they don't do Key West Fl then you many not get time off there .
    However"""" This may not start for you until you have been there long enough to show your dependable and get the job done and won't jump ship..
    If your big worry is time off , More than likely Trucking is not for you.

    Time off is not a big worry but i would like to get home to family from time to time lol
