I said up to 2 miles depending how fast you're going and have to stop or slow down at a split second and also depends on the wheather. On a normal day and not in a hurry just go with the flow attitude you can come to a complete stop or slow down a lot quicker then 2 miles. But no one should be at that point to come to a sudden slow down like this Walmart did from what im gathering.
Hi patty, um, 2 miles? I like your posts, I do, but have to side with gps, that might be a little much, but clearly 4 wheelers have no idea how long it takes. When I 1st posted this, I had no idea it would turn into this, but shows it hit a major nerve. I see many T/T's tailgating and again, I have to blame technology. Once, I had some LTL on, and the guy at the freight house had a driver waiting for it, and every 3 minutes, this guy would call, "where are you now, where are you now?" Finally, I told him, "KNOCK IT OFF, I'll get there when I get there! It's just how our society runs now, and I'm glad I'm not part of it, in a truck ,at least.:biggrin_25512:
Yes, he dozed off; had been awake over 24 hours. Looks like some long prison time for him now.

Jersey doesn't mess around when it comes to fatigued driving.

So far from what I've read:

    - Immediate news reports indicated the driver fell asleep at the wheel just prior to the accident.
    - The NJSP have said they "have no evidence to support that claim".

I just Googled to find more news stories regarding the claim the driver hadn't slept in 24 hours. So far I see NBC New York is making this claim, but they did not reference any sources for the information.

In today's world it seems that any news, whether factual or fiction, will get amplified by internet reverb (every news organization on the planet reposting news as if they wrote it). I'll be content to wait until we have results from the investigation or at least some semblance of actual journalism.

Well, most or all of our good jobs went overseas a long time ago so what are young men supposed to do for a living?

Corporations are notorious for checking social media like FB. I find it highly unlikely they wouldn't have brought him into the office and at the very least question his behavior.

Walmart does not know my identity on any social media, such as here. They have never asked me about my activity on any social media either, so I do not expect they knew what this driver in the wreck may have posted or if he even was active on any social media site.

Your words are of good will but the reality is very different. I've driven on the turnpike several years ago at 2am and I was surrounded by cars and trucks ( right around exit 8 where this accident took place) and could not get any free space unless I slowed down to 25 mph. The NE is notorious for their heavy 3 work shift economy, so night is practically as bad as day. I haven't driven there since then and have no plans on ever taking a load through there again.
