No, it's vehicular homicide they have a big problem with. Kill someone with your vehicle and you go to jail pretty much anywhere. Fatigued driving gets you 8 csa points and a fine in NJ just like any other state.

Of course according to all the unsubstantiated news reports and scary pictures, one could easily make that connection.

A lot of corporations will google a drivers name and if it comes up (like FB) they check his/her posts, FB i.e. is not anonymous.

Walmart has more than 1.3 MILLION employees in the USA. Do you really think they know what every employee may or may not be posting online? Of course, if there ends up being any truth to what this driver is alleged to have posted, Bentonville may take steps to curb this activity, at least among the Private Fleet.

I got it. I think you're catching flak because the distance you quoted pretty extreme. If my memory isn't too faulty, a standard rig at 80k takes about a football field and a half to stop from 55 mph. 350 feet. Add 100 more feet at 65 mph. Of course that's not overweight, in the rain or on ice, or on broken equipment. And from the moment braking begins, not when the driver looks up from his text message or wakes up. So that would add a few more feet.

    528 feet is 1/10th of a mile.

It was just on the news ....

SLEEP ( or lack thereof ) is being cited as a major factor in this accident .

This will mix well with all the hub bub about setting the HOS back to the old 34 system

Some get too technical without bringing the factors into my post.I said up to and automatically that's wrong.Alot of things can determine how long it takes a semi to stop or slow down.Glad you see what I mean.Ill see if I can find an article about what im saying and post it.

Lots of truck haters in the NYDN comments. I never ever in my life saw a 100 mph truck on the NJTP.

Im wondering just how fast Walmart was doing and just how slow the limo bus was doing to cause such a horrific accident.Like rumor has it Walmart fell asleep behind the wheel.

Walmart trucks are governed to 65 mph. That is plenty fast enough to kill if the traffic ahead was slowing to 30-40 mph. How fast this driver was going at the time of the collision will be known from the data on the EOBR on the tractor.

Yeahbut... in those cases you just slow to 25 mph. Whatever it takes is whatever it takes, and whatever it takes has to beat risking being found at-fault in an easily preventable rear-end crash.
