I wish Logistics would break it out of the rate but it appears to me that they don't they book it as a flat rate and take their % and SNI breaks it out of their % and we get the shaft

If you want to go spend 900-1200 a month on Cargo / Liability and buy your own fuel and process your own IFTA I'm sure they'd be glad to give you the higher rate .. But the higher rate does not = higher profit it actually ='s HIGHER OVER HEAD and sometimes less profit ..

This is is why I made this thread ..

Its a a business and In order to stay in business you need to understand

    1. The benefits to being Leased vs Your own # 's

    2. Insurance Costs ( it's not just Physical damage , Bobtail , and roll )

    3. The carrier covers allot of stuff some Never see hence don't factor into the equation when they see a higher rate posted etc .. Lists more risk for a guy pulling a load for SNI logistics with their own #'s vs a guy leased to SNI and hitting ACCEPT LOAD and drive ..

Huge Difference and why the rates reflects that

SNI charges Logistics to pull the load for the reasons I listed and why you see the rate lower on the SNI board vs Logistics . They have to cover the costs of providing us with

    1. Liability / Cargo
    2. Fuel network
    3. Communications
    4. Load board
    5. Support staff
    6. Etc ..

Just because use it don't come off our settlements as a deduction does not mean it's free .

I have seen the LS load board as well. I leased to them for 26 months so I've USED the LS load board. I've had very good direct working relationships with several LS agents. That rate you post is an average rate in that lane. The loads you haven't seen at LS are spot rate loads that are brokered out to LS agents from companies like SNI. These loads need to be covered for certain customers in order for SNI to adhere to their contract with said customer. If SNI can't get one of their trucks to load it then they have to pay a premium to get it moved. These high dollar loads will usually not even make it to LS load board. In the example I gave it was brokered by the LS agent from SNI and a direct phone call was made to my BCO buddy. I saw the confirmation sheet he received from the agent, I know what he got paid. It isn't an everyday occurrence but it does happen. You can believe me if you want, or not. It's up to you. But to think that ANY trucking company is on the up and up 100% of the time is something I can't subscribe to.

I am am going to suppose your next question is why did I leave if they were so great? I was deployed, I had no choice but to cancel my contract with them. I chose Schneider when I came back so I wouldn't have to deal with agents and networking. Other than that it was a toss up.

which is the same reason I choose them , however if we work less dealing with AGENTS ( really brokers ) and more drop and swap the rates will be lower in the end that's the part of FREE MARKET ENTERPRISE I love ..

Hey if a guy sits in and negotiates rates with an agent for 2 hrs over several phone calls just to get a few more CPM in some cases ( or most ) then hey I'm all for it ..

Me me id rather hit ASSIGN SHIPMENT and go ..

I agree. That's why I only work 3-4 days a week. I choose to work smarter. My personal opinion though is that 35% of everything we do is too much. SNI has a lot of overhead sure, but the items you listed are minimal costs. If I weren't so lazy and hate paperwork so much I'd get my own numbers. Lol. $3500/yr for insurance, no big deal. Dot number is free, mc number $150 one time fee. Drug testing consortium, $35/yr. IFTA, free to file takes about 15 mins/mo to sit down and do it. But, again, I don't want to deal with it. Not trying to argue, just stating my opinion. I'll leave it alone now and let you get your thread back on track.

One of the reasons you should be very careful about Percentage leases w/o full rate disclosure....... What do you think would happen If you asked to see the actual invoices of the loads you've hauled for the previous 3 months???? Using this e-mail as a example of the company possibly shortchanging the I.C... It would be give you a good idea if they're actually chipping away at the rate on all loads
