Some DC's have continuous job openings and some never have any job openings. Turnover company wide has risen a lot compared to previous years.

You or others are welcome to read over the hundreds of posts I have made. There has been no sudden change of feelings. I compliment Walmart for the good and point out the bad. You are welcome to call me out for what you think motivates me. The case I brought against Walmart for violating the law does not change the opinions I have about many things here. I am just not someone who is afraid to speak out against Bentonville and the things they do. I know they are really a paper tiger when the spotlight is put on them.

Whenever others ask me about the job I say how easy a job it really is. Dropping and hooking loads is a gravy job. Walmart deserves a lot of credit for how efficiently they handle the logistics for loads going to the stores. Walmart is the only carrier I have ever seen that inspects every trailer thoroughly before loading them at a DC. You can look at the CSA score of Walmart and see they are doing a lot of things right when it comes to safety. I have never changed these opinions. I just will not look the other way when managers or people in Bentonville violate the law.

I do not worry about ever being in this situation because of how anal I am about following distances and paying attention every second the truck is rolling. Anything less and this can happen to anyone. I thought about this accident more in depth today and wonder how much the Wingman system on Kevin's Peterbilt may have contributed to this collision.

Tom I have thought about it to. I personally hate both the wingman and the on guard. I have had mine hit the brakes when not even close to anything. Actually a little frightening to say the least. Pretty much makes cruise control useless to in the area we run.

 

i didn't hear about until just now. And it sucks. But here's the deal. As much as that accident should not have happened, this one really shouldn't have. He's a professional driver. Anytime a professional driver causes an accident we should all be angry. I'm done sticking up for people who don't deserve it. I mean that. This industry is going down the crapper because of BS like this and the apologists for it. Enough. Seriously. Enough. A rear end should NEVER happen. Ever ever ####### ever. Each time a "driver" causes an accident and someone dies, that makes all of us look bad. I'm 38 years old. I plan on driving another 25 years or so. I'm tired of being looked at like less of a person because of someone else's screw ups or piss bottles or feces bag or ACCIDENT where people die because of stupidity on a driver's fault. I'm not an apologist for these people anymore. If you are then good for you. I'm not. I'm tired of it and it's alarming that others aren't.

 

By the way, if nobody noticed, the Collins amendment to end this stupid 1-5 provision in the restart is now being looked at by everyone in the media because god forbid they get it right and not tell the truth that this had nothing to do with HOS. Collins is being ostracized because of this incident and finally there was a light at the end of the tunnel, someone who got it and now because of this steering wheel holder's actions, Joan Claybrook can say "SEE!!!! THEY ARE KILLERS!!!" This guy just handed Claybrook and every other idiot who hates trucks and truckers ammunition to change the HOS yet again and this time have the public shaking their know nothing heads in agreement and there are people HERE who are trying to put the blame on the victims. Maybe we deserve all the BS they want to hand us and then ask for more.

 

That type of silly crap don't bother me at all in fact makes my day or night all the better hearing someone squawk on the cb and me telling them off.But what I mean is when someone says something very low and insensitive that hurts worse the being punched.Just because u drive truck and maybe wanna keep the strong image type,you can't tell me words haven't hurt a time or two..Far as the know it all types they're nothing I can't handle.I drove local with 26 other drivers,all male except me.Told a few off and loved it,lol.

 

E logs and slow trucks are really helping safety out here smh

 

Yup. Gonna get worse too. Just watch. The trucking "czar" Joanie will make sure that we are all single file, 55 mph, 8 hours a day, 2 30 minute breaks and sleeper for 12 hours. And e-logs? Hurumph. That'll be the least of your problems. Just wait for the "no stereo" law because it could be a distraction and monitors on your body to make sure your hands stay at 10 and 2.
