I wonder about many details of the trucking life and whether I could handle it. When driving for long periods of time I often find road hypnosis a problem. You know that trance-like sleepiness that goes away whenever you stop or switch drivers. Sometimes it's not so bad, but other times it's seriously bad. Nighttime driving, which some people prefer, I find especially difficult because it takes away the scenery and puts you in a tunnel. I can't quite wrap my head around doing long drives day after day. I'm also not even a coffee drinker so that's a big strike against me right there I guess. And then boredom can also be a problem. How do you pros deal with these obvious problems?

Try and keep your mind active. Think about the meaning of life or something you want to do. Some people used to sing on the CB or argue with someone.

-if you drive a less than posted speed limit truck, you know-one of those 62-65 mph trucks, you will suffer from boredom and road hypnosis.

-if you drive for a company that monitors everything thing you do via qualcom, elogs, vorad, and tells you where you HAVE to fuel, you will suffer from boredom and road hypnosis.

-if you drive for a company that will not allow you to drive 20 miles out of the way in order to park at a truck stop(for necessary things like showers and food) as opposed to the shipper/consignee,you will suffer from boredom and road hypnosis.

-if you drive for a company that MAKES you drive the routes that they tell you to drive, you know-the routes that take you through every traffic light on those pesky two lanes highways, you will suffer from boredom and road hypnosis.

-if you purposely drive 62-65 in the middle lane of a 70 mph highway, you deserve to be bored and suffer from road hypnosis.I sincerely hope that you suffer from both of those if you do pilot those pretend trucks in that manner.

never settle for less. drive for an outfit that runs actual trucks and share the road.being a happy and real trucker that shares the road and not homesteads in the passing lane in a slow truck will greatly diminish if not eliminate the boredom and road hypnosis that you are now concerned with.

words of wisdom to drive by.

Providing that I am not wrong, I believe that Prime trucks are governed at 57 miles per hour.
