Good question.
It is simple, there is a way to split the time and I can't figure out what these other people are you guys talking about?
30 minutes into your 8?
Seriously learn how to log.
You start on duty at midnight you have 14 hours to do that, then if you start driving at Midnight you have 11 hours to drive. YOUR 30 minutes have to be taken 8 hours after your duty change from off duty or sleeper, not when you start driving.
AND say you want to drive for 4 hours and then stop the clock (drive time), you have to take 8 hours in the sleeper or off duty to that - this is why you see that 8 hours popping up on the qualcomm. When you do that, you have two more hours to add to your sleeper or off duty time to get your ten but ... there is a catch to that and someone else can explain it.

That's the 8-2 split.

Its take 30 before the 8 runs out to get your 11 -
You can drive 11 hours in any given 14 hour period. So you start driving at 5 AM after a reset. You drive for 2 hours, you sleep for 8 hours, when you get up you can only drive for? A. 4 hours or B. 8 hours.
Please remember to put you phrase you answer in the form of a question. -

Seriously? You guys need to learn log rules.
8 hours in the sleeper (must be sleeper, not off duty) will return your 14 hour clock to the time it had remaining when you entered the sleeper. That is the only thing that will pause your 14hr clock.
The split sleeper rule comes in very handy when you need it. -
but that doesnt work in all scenarios
pretty handy when it doesHardlyWorkingNeverHome Thanks this. -
You can work as long as you like. You just can't drive after being on duty after 8 hours before taking either a 30 minute, 2 hour, 8 hour, or 10 hour break.
