I've been trucking for about 5 years but have yet to adopt a CB handle. How do people do this? Do they just pick something that sounds cool and go with it? Or do they pick something that holds some sort of special meaning? Knowing my luck I'd pick something that every driver on the road would quickly dismiss as stupid or ridiculous.

Either you can pick a handle you like, or you can ask the nice folks on here to think up some for you. Might be kind of fun, hold some sort of a contest and see what names develop. But, I would suggest you come up with your own. Names from other people can be a brutal affair....
(I simply don't use one. I just talk on the radio, and have never had to bother with a handle. It's a business tool for me, not an extension of my childhood....) -
arnt they all stupid or rediculous lol
but if you run with the same people over and over, you kinda need one
or somebody will say "hey mike" and five smartasses will respond -
I say we call him........

A perfect illustration of my point why you are better off picking your own name.... See ya on the road ***********

"Breaker Breaker one nine, for that one and only ***********. Ya got yer ears on Good Buddy". LOL
And in the future when one of those "How'd you get your handle" threads comes up, you'll have a tale to tell. -
My name in here is my cb handle. Got it from one of my old friends. Yes, it is an extension of my childhood.

I started driving 2 months ago, and have thought about a handle for the entire time, I am a moderator on a auto forum, so I tried that and everyone wants me to repeat it. So that is out. I am going with "Dog" or the way I will say it is "Dawg" and that way it is already a odd ball name and it wont bother me about the nay sayers and what they want to say about it. I worked at auto salvage yards for years and was called the junkyard dog for a long time. So it is easy to say, hear and understand without explaination.

I was thinking about, maybe, **********. Back when I was doing construction work, some co-workers would call me that. Guess my neck's a little too red for 'em 'er sumthin'!
