looking at the map, I'd say you're just right. Thing is, I never enjoyed the scenery until I was sure I wasn't going to make it. After that, it was a real pretty drive

Today I just cruised and cruised. Made it about 3 hours from the delivery. Almost decided to run the whole way tonight but when I stopped at the rest stop I decided I was just ready to shut down. Flat ground, not too much traffic, had the cruise on 66-67 the whole way today, averaged 60 MPH for 9 hours of driving, can't complain. Had I decided to run my 11 into nothing and go all the way to the delivery it would have been a 700+ mile day.

After that I will be out of hours. I regain only like 3.5 at midnight tomorrow, but 10 something the next day. Still, if I can fit it in it will be yet another restart away from home, lol. But that's OK, enjoying the good running. Probably gonna try to grab a cheapy load out of the same place I deliver to in NY to get me out, maybe up to MI or OH and then who knows from there. Missed out on a killer load from OH to TX but couldn't get support shift to confirm that it was a ready time and not an appointment time.

The two biggest gripes I have about the load board are exactly that - sometimes loads have weird pickup times on them, like they may show a D&H appointment from 10:37 to 11:37. Usually this is an indication that the load is READY at 10:37am and it has no appointment time. Sometimes its not, and there is no true indication anywhere on the load board until after you assign the load. The other gripe is weights... way too much "placeholder" weights such as 44,000lbs, 40,000lbs, etc., many times on loads that may be half or even a quarter of that. I am sure I avoid lots of loads because I believe they will put me overweight when in reality they would be great lighter loads for me to pull.

Had I left about 2 hours earlier this morning I would have actually been able to deliver the load by midnight and still had my nice looking week on paper, lol. But, nobody in their right mind driving at the speeds I do trip plans for a 700 mile day, so I slept in and only realized I could have made it once I was halfway through the day. But like I said I got to the rest stop and decided 540 miles was enough for one day anyway.

Back in the day, when I had a real truck 750 in a day was the norm. Back then fuel was cheap and DOT smiled at the Benjamin between log sheets.

So today I woke up drove a short 150 miles to my delivery and now I'm here at the truckstop for my 34. Got a load planned to take me from here back to north of Detroit, MI and after that I will try to get a good paying load either to or out of Ohio. But that's just the plan so far... who knows.
