It really just depends on a few things. If you smoke or not. How far along the others trainee's are ect. We only have about 22 trainers for the entire company out of 600 drivers. Cargo is known to be really picky about who they let train and you can see it in the numbers. If you should have a problem with a trainer, Just call Shelly Munday or your fleet leader and they will address the issue. You'll be called in a few days most likely. Taylor Christopher is our recruiter out of Charlotte. He's young but he's pretty good at knowing the right answers. He was my recruiter also.

Taylor seems like a cool guy he called today keeping me updated about my application and trainer status. I'm so ready now

I'm hearing some really good things about Cargo Transporters. I'm currently a student but I'll be finishing up around the beginning of July. Does everyone normally get home for the weekend? Are you normally home from Friday until Monday morning or is it Friday until some time on Sunday?
-
Smurf, you said "if you smoke or not." I probably just don't understand the reference, but is this one of those things where if you have a cigar here and there it can cause you to get fired due to insurance or something?
-
I think that he may mean that if you smoke you will have to wait for a trainer that also smokes so that you can smoke as you wish instead of having to wait until the truck stops or making a non-smoking traininer inhale your smoke. I could be wrong but that's how I took it.
smurf-316 Thanks this. -
Usually Friday afternoon to Sunday sometime. Or sat afternoon to Monday. If you can manage to make it in on a Thursday night you could leave Sunday. Or if you're willing to leave Saturday afternoon they usually have some awesome 1000+ mile runs for Monday morning delivery.

That was just my experience there. Some guys either chose to stay out longer or don't have the backbone to let their dispatcher know that they want/need to be home every weekend.
-
LOL! That's crazy. Why would anyone be afraid to let their dispatcher know? I'm still in school and I'm letting any companies that I talk to know from the very beginning. Family is everything. I need my weekends. If that changes and the wife and kids are doing something that doesn't include me then I can drive all day but other than that I need to be at home on weekends for my family.
