Seriously? Whenever they tell you to be. I don't want to compare your time in training to military basic training by any means (because I've been there), but there are subtle similarities. They aren't going to make you run 10 miles in full military pack or do 50 push-ups because you didn't flush the toilet...but if they tell you to be in a classroom at 4:45 AM you best be there on time and ready to go. It makes them feel better about you being out on the road in their machine and load and trusting that you will get your behind out of the sleeper and deliver the money by the time you are supposed to.
In answer to the second part of your question...no one cares about how you drive or past experience years ago. No one cares about a "past permit". To be painfully honest with you, if someone told me "I can drive a semi better than a manual transmission car", I'd seriously have to question the stability of their thinking. If you think you can navigate a 13 or 18 speed fully loaded semi truck through Vail pass on I-70 better than you can a Ford Ranger pickup truck with a 5 speed factory transmission then I really don't want to share the road with you. Just sayin'.

I don't have that kind of money right now -
Don't forget your ear plugs, as you'll certainly want to get a good night's sleep during the hectic school/training period. Good luck!!!
NavigatorWife and ChefBrianN Thank this. -

Millis wants $500, not including bus and meals, a bus ticket is at least $200, and food is gonna be another 200
So for Millis I'd need over $1000 -
All the starter companies are is just a start. You have to get your foot in the door somewhere and pay your dues. The object of your first year should be to learn, not worried about who makes more, or whatever. After a year then you look at those things, home time, pet policies etc...

How many other places did you apply for?
Those options aren't the best.
CR Gobrokeland I wouldn't go to FTY -
Schneider is doing the contract thing again. I think they send you to school and you drive for a year to pay it off. Go Schneider bulk, no reason to look further. Member on here by the name of firespock is doing that.
briarhopper Thanks this.
