Are roehl drivers required to wear a company uniform of some kind?

If by uniforms you mean shorts, t-shirts, baseball caps, bandannas, shirts with the sleeves cut-off then yes you do...lol. I'm in my 2nd week of school and have seen it all. But pretty sure you need to be somewhat presentable at the customer (shirt w/sleeves) at least.

A recruiter would have to tell you what they're offering in your area. Most of the freight is east of the Mississippi. Flatbeds do venture out west.

Thanks! I need to call Kim anyway and let her know I decided on Roehl over the couple of other schools I was looking at.

what questions are most frequently asked by the driver trainees?
What advice did you wish someone gave you when you were a new driver about to set off on your own?
When the new driver is out with the trainer, are they only driving the states specific to the drivers chosen fleet option (ie with dairyland your only driving through certain states) or will the student and trainer get to drive nationally for the training period? (im hoping I get to drive through mountains)
Does the student need to buy groceries before going with the trainer?
what are the most common stupid mistakes most driver trainees make that could be avoided easily?

thank you. I leave in 4 days to orientation in Appleton, the closer it gets the more excited I get... :hello1::toothy7::smt038:occasion5:

No - am Dairyland and went out with a National Van Trainer. Never touched a reefer.

Depends..Talk to your trainer ahead of time. I didnt buy any as we only snacked for the 11 days and only had a couple actual meals.

Rushing...Slow down...I mean way down..your brain won't respond as fast until you have experience.

Both van and flatbed run the entire 48 states and southern Canada. about 95%% of your loads would be east of the Rockies and about 75% being in the Midwest. But you would also get a good bit of the south east and some north east / eastern seaboard as well. Staying out for longer periods gets you the chance to see the western states. The hometime fleets would not give you enough time to go from SC to the left coast and back.

Within my first 10 months, I had driven in every state except Rhode Island and Maine, and made it to all 48 states by 2 years.

I have had students change fleets while with me during training.
I drive flatbed, but also train van/reefer drivers. Some van students have been with me for a few days pulling flatbed before we could get to a van load. And during that few days with a flatbed, they decided they wanted to do that instead.
Also had couple students who realized flatbed was to much work and changed over to van.
Living in Columbia, both flat or van should be easily available.

Kim is great. She was my first fleet manager before she moved over to recruiting. Let us know when you are starting school.
