Yes I live in the Springs also. Well fountain. Local gigs here suck. Going back on the road hauling containers to the ports in LA and Oakland.

Yeah, they do. That's a good part of the reason why I decided to try something else for a change. Last full time driving job I had was with Pioneer Sand... not a terrible gig, but nothing great, either.

Yeah I was working for transit mix hauling concrete. I so didn't enjoy that.

Yeah, I applied with Transit Mix/Daniels Sand when I first moved out here. Moving here in November and coming out of the construction industry with the intention of doing the same in a state which has an actual Winter season... not the best thought-out move on my part, although I did managed to stay employed the entire time I lived in the Springs. For a while, I was doing crack fill and snow plowing for the city via Remedy Staffing, but it was never going to lead to a permanent position with the city... the 'good ol' boy' system runs as thick as it did back in Mississippi, and I wasn't in with the in crowd.

Yep I agree. Not originally from here either so I wasn't part of their crappy club either nor did I want to be

"the 'good ol' boy' system runs as thick as it did back in Mississippi," You are absolutely correct, and I am certainly sure its one reason I have applied for 30 state jobs-taken, and passed their tests-never been called back.

Well, that's the thing... if they need help badly enough and you're even close to being a match you're going to get a call pronto. If not, don't really expect them to call back. It's less a matter of "respect," than a matter of s recruiting staff with not enough bodies to process the hires let alone the rejections.

Yep, I had forgotten that todays business motto is "be greedy, and get cash anyway possible," probably the same motto as a recruiter just replace cash with "bodies."

They're probably paid ala piece work. However, when has it not been, "Grab that cash with both hands 'n make a stash?" We're fooling ourselves if we think it's ever been any other way.
