They do it quite a bit on the QE II northbound at exit 305 (Carstairs, Cremona) also. Radar cop sits in the dark right up where the abutment meets the overpass and a half-dozen horsemen and sheriffs sit on the on-ramp on the other side.

Supposedly they resurrected the air enforcement for the QE II as well last year and they are known to employ it in BC on Highway 93 between Castle Junction and Radium down in the flats.

They sometimes hide out near the overpass north of Lacombe. It's funny watching the losers flashing their headlights "warning" of them. Can't wait to see someone down the road tagging them for it.

I used to travel the QEII a lot with my last job. Only see it occasionally now. Run mostly US.

Travel on the QE II: how much faster than 125 (the de facto speed limit) does someone really need to go? ;)

    Same here.

Just for fun I would actually use a stop watch and hold a steady speed of 60mph (or whatever you choose) and do the math and you can calculate how far those line are from each other on the road.

Yes, I have too much free time. :biggrin_25514:

State Patrol enforcing big rig safety from the sky

The Washington State Patrol has deployed seven airplanes for CMV enforcement.

The planes are equipped with a FLIR Safire 1080 HDc camera with night vision.

On Thursday, the planes focused on I-5 in Marysville and Arlington. In just a few short hours, the airplanes were responsible for 10 truck and 3 car stops.

Troopers say they’re looking for vehicles following too closely, speeding and other dangerous driving habits.

According to King 5, “Washington State Patrol says there have been nine fatal accidents involving big rigs; in eight of those accidents the car’s driver was found at fault.”

I got popped by aircraft in Iowa once. Was in my car. I had a scanner but turned it down to make a phone call so I didn't hear the chatter. Got stopped for 78 in a 55. They knocked it down to 69 in a 55 because I had a cdl.
