That's all I got was requested to renew. All it was, it became a place for me to call to tell me what I already knew.

Hundreds if not thousands of times over the years I have went home and rested and woke up ready to report to work and the call doesn't come for 10,12,14 hours about the time I'm ready to go back to bed. My company never gave it a second thought, I was legal but my wife would be worried too death knowing I wasn't properly rested. Happens thousands of times every day and what can be done?

It's this way at most jobs out there. Not just trucking jobs. You give up any "off time recreational drugs" when you get a CDL or one of millions of other jobs. Doesn't matter where you chose to take your vacation.

I just shake my head at how drivers act like we are singled out so much. Sure, a lot of the rules and regulations are put in place by idiots that know nothing of the industry. And I completely am against E Logs. But a lot of plants, industries etc... have rules and regulations put in place that are nonsense. It's not just the trucking industries. These rules get put in place because, generally, something happened and law makers first thing to do is make a law or rule, like it will prevent it again. It's just not so....

An ignorant response. Your company obviously schedules loads differently than mine. I dont do the things you suggested. When I get a load that I pickup at midnight and has to be at receiver at 10 am and it is 9.5 hours away, that is what I mean by no time buddy. They dont even factor in traffic or construction. Some of us actually drive a lot.

I'm confused how that's ignorant. Talk to your company about it.

Especially driving tankers one day your loading in the morning and driving during the day next load your picking up at midnight and expected to run all night and be there in the morning your all legal but your body cant adjust like that least with paper logs and the 15/10 you could pull over and lay down with e logs and the 14 hour rule it prevents that which is not safe when i would load from paulsboro nj at midnight and excepted to be in roanoke va at 8 am i use to call the costumer and ask if they minded if i got there around noon they always said no problem with elogs i couldve never done that i would be forced to drive straight through tired or not keep pushing its just plain not safe and thats why theres been so many accidents

True about those policies but driver safety is not the number 1 concern with UPS or FEDEX that I know.In this case it could have been all driver error, maybe dispatcher or both.

Happens all the time in this industry and obviously FMCSA is too dense to see that but yet blames HOS not strict enough for all the crashesAlot of the more aggressive companies do just that. You get your full 10 hrs and feel great but don't get a load till hrs later. One company I drove for ecspects the OTR drivers to be ready to roll no matter how tired you are as long as you have a full set of hrs.Something needs to change and make it into law. When drivers are sitting for hrs after their brks, companies needs to ask that driver if he feels up to doing a load before just dispatching them.

    Fairly simple.

Remember the video on KB and the responses. When you are not working, even when home, you should be in bed resting in case they call or you get a load. Then you can drive all the night. PLANNING.......

You can only sleep so long.If companies ecspect drivers to be ready roll right after their break then they better have a load right after their break and not hrs later. The planning should work both ways with the driver and the dispatcher, not this one sided crap.Companies knows when a driver is going to get a load and what time to pick it up no reason they cant give the driver a heads up so the driver can be home resting and be ready to roll when they are dispatched. It happens more times then not in this industry which could very well be the reason why so many tired truckers.Companies not only don't give drivers a heads up but no window time either.
