This thread is disgusting, a week prior, A UPS feeder driver was involved in a more serious wreck. A tractor trailer driver from another company died, Wiped out the tractor and trailer from UPS, the UPS driver survived. The media picks and choses what companies to spotlight, Quit being sheeps ! Walmart and now UPS. sheeps on TTR

No coincidence, 2 very high paid company jobs media focuses on.

My one question to Ferro would be to ask if she gets that the 30 minute break just makes my day 30 minutes longer. So if I was tired I would have to stay awake another 30 minutes for safety. I don't get many of the new rules, never understood the 14 or the 70 but of them all that stupid, idiotic and dangerous 30 minute thing just kills me. They didn't even have the courtesy to make it cumulative. What is it for???? What am I suppose to be doing?

At night if the fuel island is busy I have to just keep making a loop, pull forward wait till driver behind me is done, circle around and do it again. Hopefully, this will change. The stupid..........it burns!!!!

I got caught up in this one, wasn't a terrible delay though. I could only see the undercarriage as I passed him on the side road I was taking. Well me and everyone else.

So that means you are falsifying your logs and running illegally. It is because of dishonest drivers like you that they are making Ebro mandatory. I never saw the at vantage of lying. If i am tired I tell my dispatcher I too tired and they readjust my delivery time to work it in. Plus 30 min power nap does wonders...

Well that's you, most companies won't readjust deliver times especially the day your due to arrive at the customer.

I have seen near catastrophes, in the wee ours, and I see lots of guys in daycabs catching a few zz's on ramps and in rest areas. I will give these people credit for trying to do the right thing. The most noticed symptom I see is failure to maintain the lane, and if it is repeated, probably means fatigue, or else a really compelling distraction.

The power nap doesn't work for everyone and even for those it does, it may not work every time. Knowing your limits and how you are feeling is key, and is where experience with reaching a limit is important.

You go because you are expected to and someone is waiting for you when you get there, in the case of linehaul, most likely another driver, or else a factory waiting for that just in time delivery. You may have been expecting to depart at 2200 hours and not allowed to leave until 0300, and don't leave until after you should have arrived 4 hours later(0200). That can be a tough time to stay awake.

A driver with less than 1 year experience passing judgment. Didn't take this one long to "know it all". What school taught you son?? Let me tell you something, I don't care how many rules or regulations that the government places upon drivers, there are still going to be sleepy, tired and fatigued drivers out there and you can rest assured that just because they are sleepy doesn't make them "illegal"..

Come back in 5 years and pass your opinion.
