buy your OWN TRUCK and SAVE MONEY and guess you could . You have to remember I'm not paying the man for a truck . I have my own therefore I have more luxuries than most .

Whats odd odd about havjng a savings account and telling a company up front your taking time off before you sign on in the first place .

actually doesn't seem odd to me seems well planned out

edit : also 2-2.5 weeks is not considered several in my book but just depends on the person I guess

When you click assign load on the load board how long does it typically take for them to approve the load? Is the rate you see on the load board the rate you get to your truck or is it like landstar where you have to calculate your cut?

Depending on the age of your truck,,maintenance will be higher.
You should always put away cash when you can..just in case..as I'm sure you know.

I don't think 2 weeks without revenue is severe..as long as you plan a head.

I'm taking vacation this year..3 weeks total.

I saved for 10 years before taking the plunge to O/O..so my warchest is still in good shape.

Thanks foe all the information you have posted, it's been great information. Just a quick question, I too am interested in the SNI's choice program, so how much does the % program break down to as average CPM? Let me know when you get a chance, and keep the great posts coming.

    Thanks man

It's tough to average anything as you control the amount you will haul for.

I run the NE mostly so my average stays a bit high..around 1.80/mile.
It's all falls on you..YOU decide how much and where.

I was otr last year with central refrigerated. I was a l/o for 3 months and loved it. I team drove and I'd like to get back into otr teaming again. Have to wait till the wife turns 21 to get her cdl, but jarhead, I'd like yours and others opinions and facts on team driving a ic with the choice program if you wouldn't mind. When I was with crs, we were doing 6k miles a week and making about 2500-3k a week after all expenses.

Its really based on area like RIGHT FOOT said and you control the revenue . Now if you asked me what the avg rate for a specific area you intend to run I can help you out more cause it's a key segment of a mass market . For instance I live in KY . My avg rate within 100 miles of home range from 1.57 to 2.15 depending on how far I want to DH and where I want to go . Now I will say you too much farther south in TX than Houston you better have a 2.00 + rate to support your next move because it's a tough market down there coming out .

Some lanes have good HEAD HAUL rates which are attractive you have to look for the best of both HEAD HAUL and BACK HAUL rates to support your over all revenue per mile that meets your business needs . It's important to note everyone has amount they have to meet to garner a profit mine is different than yours , yours is different than driver XYZ and so on . So what I call a bad rare you may like etc , etc ..

Give br me a more detailed area I can help get you closer to your target or the answer your looking for

Yeah, you REALLY have to be careful trying to run in Texas. I live in Fort Worth, and tried to just run Texas locally for the last month and a half, and it very nearly put me out of business. Although there's a lot of freight in DFW that pays $2.00 plus per mile, you have to watch out for how the pickup/delivery appointments are set, since some of the loads are only 200 miles and set three days apart. Plus, a couple of the highest paying customers in the area also are really good at screwing up loads and taking so long to live load you that you miss out on the rest of your load plan.

I'm doing much better running the Midwest... Illinois, Indiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, etc. my gross income this week is the highest it's ever been at $5,600.
