More Specifically I Have A Truck I Am Putting A Driver In Based On This. I Know You Take Out The % The Carriar Takes And The Fuel, What I Need To Know Is Do You Also Take Out Tolls Before You Figure The Drivers Pay Or Do The Tolls Come Strictly Out Of Your Cut As The Owner. Anyone Who Has Worked On A 50/50 Or Employed Drivers On A 50/50 I Could Use Some Input.

I have talked to a few people who have done this. They say you make out a little better than % or mileage. In their situation, the owner took care of all the major break downs and maintenance. Did you talk about that with him or her?
-
The way I understood it, it's 50/50 except major repairs and maintenance.

OK, sorry for 3 different posts. You and the driver, in your case, have to come up with a % that stays just for the truck. Like we will say 5%. You subtract that off of the top. Then it's 50/50. If there's a payment, insurance, so on. That's all split. Or you can figure that off of the top in a % and split the rest. I would make SURE he or she is going to slit fuel.

Split it all. I would work for that. Your on the hook for the big stuff. That stuff ain't cheap. If he or she abuses the truck that only comes out of your pocket. I would split EVERYTHING. -
Dieselhound Thanks For The Help. I Am Just Not Used To Paying This Way I Have Delt With Just A Set % Of The Adjusted Gross In The Past And A Driver I Talked To Today Is More Inrerested In Doing It This Way, Just Trying To Gather Information On How All It Works To Make An Informed Decision

Thats a sometimes you're the bug, sometimes you're the windshield kinda deal....If your Hand is gonna split fuel and you're lucky and have 0 major breakdowns you can come out even or a bit better I'd say.IF you have a decent size breakdown, you will miss that extra cushion of the % that was going towards the truck imo.I'm kinda like you tho',it's kinda odd to figure it at a 50/50.Keep us informed on this cause I'm curious how this will work out.
