Not sure if you are asking as far as job-wise or using their service. I cannot answer about company drivers but BEWARE of sub hauling for them!
United Road has made many changes over the past years. When they all worked out of the same location, I hauled a lot of cars for them.
These days we stopped moving them almost a year go. They will look for any small reason not to pay the deflated transport fee and if you don't "drop it" they have a very
rude little man get on the phone to threatening to "blacklist" you from transporting for them again. He did not realize That I had worked with UR over 20 years.
When he threatened us, I just told him he won't have to blacklist us as we won't move for a company who arbitrarily decide who and who not be paid.
So much for their "blacklist" as we still get calls and emails from their other sales people/dispatcher. I already have a pre-written email that I send to those people
explaining that we will not transport any card for them until they changed their policies.
By the way, I did get them to pay but it took weeks of called, faxes and emails along with pictures of the vehicle we transported. I cannot verify but another driver told me he stopped transporting for then because he has them depositing into his account. Allegedly a client claimed damage 3 months later and he was shocked to find out that UR could take that money out of his bank without even discussing the damages the client waited 3 months to report. -
I've never had a problem with United Road, I just don't care for the fact that they now do repos, but don't list it as a repo till you try to book the load, I have very nicely mentioned to them it would be nice if they did ,ark them as repos.

Let me tell you something about United Road, as an O/O, I don't think you find a better place to hang your hat. I have had nothing but good experiences running with them over the last 5 years, all the work you could want, very strong loaded mile percentage (for me 92.2%), decent enough load rate and a fair fuel surcharge. They allow me to have work done in thier shop and have advanced me money on the road to pay for repairs without a big hassle. Experienced O/O's should have no trouble making 200K, I did that in 10 months last year. I would have made made 250K, but I fell from the headrack and have been off work since. URS has been really helpful to me in ways most companies wouldn't during my recovery. By the way, some advice for all you carhaul O/O's, NEVER be without Occ/Acc insurance, it's been a lifesaver for me. Big thumbs up to Great American, they have taken care of everything as my policy states with no problems. I have some very good friends that are company drivers for URS and they do very well, over 90K and decent bennies. In talking to the guys (and a few girls) that it's pretty much the same through out the URS system, if you work, you will do pretty well.
I have been a carhauler for 32 years the last 15 as an O/O and fleet owner, so I know what I am talking about. United Road is a pretty good place to be. I'm not saying it's the ONLY good company to run for, (I hear good things from H&A O/O's) but then every company has pluses and minuses, more pluses at URS though. And no I'm not a recruiter! -
