No. Why would anyone spend more money for a like item. From what I understand, the KR has one feature the D doesn't, and that's the profit per mile feature. Not worth $50

Press tell me the KEY feature. I have the D which provides me with 40+ gauges. Remember, it's not a KR product. He took an existing item and add 1 feature, add his name and changes s 50 more.

Waste of time eh? You missed the whole point of my earlier post. Why 2? Any time you have to buy 2 of any product to get desired results is a waste of money. My whole point was that one Scangauge, whether the D or the KR will produce the desired results without spending an extra $200.

Buying 2 of a product simply because one is to lazy to push a button for a different reading
doesn't make any business sense...at least to anyone that has a mind for business.

Lastly, you're unwillingness to advocate on behalf of your point of view simply tells me that you're the one that doesn't get it. I presented my side and reasons, why can't you do the same? That is what the forum is for: to advise and teach others. Your answer is simply a cop out. Am I wrong in stating that the unit is $200? Am I wrong in stating that you can get the same item for $50 less? Am I wrong in stating that the only feature difference in the profit per mile reading? No, no, and no. Please tell me where my facts are misconstrued. According to your profile, you've been trucking 1 whole year. I've got 13 years on you, plus an additional 15 years running a muhilti million dollar business.

I'm guessing you're one of those newbies that listens to KR on the radio and thinks he ##### gold bricks. Well, he is a business man like me. Although he may give some great advise now and then, he is still a business man. He saw a great product and had an idea to capitalize on it by putting his name on it and charging more in exchange for free advertising for Scangauge corporation. It's a business move. He doesn't own the Scangauge.
I'm certainly not gonna take crap from some like you that is soaking wet behind the ears in this industry. Ask any trucker and they'll tell you the same thing. When and if you hit 8 or 9 years, then you can say you're no longer a rookie.

I intend to add a scangauge D next to my KR. I'd rather just glance over and see whatever gauge instantly instead of looking away from the road while pushing a button 20 times to see the gauge you want for that situation.

Additionally, when I first get a truck I like to learn about the engine's sweet spot so I'd display horsepower, RPM, and GPH (and mpg). Sure I had a tach already, but it was easier to see all the info in one place... Anyway, as I drove the truck I'd note the GPH at various HP/RPM combinations on my windshield using a dry erase marker. At the end of the day, I'd transfer the data to my notebook and after a week or two I'd have a decent chart filled out. Here's a sample from a Maxxforce:

Gal/hour required for 120 horsepower at

    1450 rpm: 8.10
    1425 rpm: 8.05
    1400 rpm: 8.05
    1375 rpm: 8.00
    1350 rpm: 8.00
    1325 rpm: 8.00
    1300 rpm: 7.95
    1275 rpm: 7.95
    1250 rpm: 7.95
    1225 rpm: 7.95
    1200 rpm: 7.95
    1175 rpm: 7.95
    1150 rpm: 7.90
    1125 rpm: 7.90
    1100 rpm: 7.90
    1075 rpm: 7.90
    1050 rpm: 7.90
    1025 rpm: 7.95
    1000 rpm: 7.95
    0975 rpm: 7.95
    0950 rpm: 7.95

120hp is about what it took to pull a van grossing 80,000lb on flat ground with no wind at 65mph. As you can see, the Maxxforce is a very low rpm engine -- getting the best mileage at around 1100rpm for low engine loads.

However, the maxxforce is still a small engine so when power demand crept up -- it began to do better at higher rpm:

    GPH required at 180hp:

1400rpm: 11.8 (It would have been better to be in liters/hour because of the 3-digit limit)
    1350rpm: 11.8
    1300rpm: 11.9
    1250rpm: 11.9
    1200rpm: 11.9
    1150rpm: 12.0
    1100rpm: 12.0
    1050rpm: 12.0
    1000rpm: 11.9
    0950rpm: 11.9

That trend continued until about 250hp at which point I suspect EGR settings started to mess with things...

    GPH required at 280hp:

    1400: 18.9
    1375: 18.9
    1350: 18.7
    1325: 18.7
    1300: 18.5
    1275: 18.4
    1250: 18.3

After learning this, I was better able to predict/anticipate which gear to be in for various situations. And if I ever buy a truck with that engine, I have a good idea what rear end ratios would work best for me.

I am sorry $197 device is not worth it for you to be a safer driver by not having to fumble around pressing buttons multiple times looking at gauges. My 10+ mpg truck has enough profit margin it doesn`t hardly miss such a small expense to be a safer driver.

FYI: I may sending the 2 SGKRs back for a refund because the Bully Dog WD HD so far is much better.

I have had the Scangauge D for several years. It is fine for me, and I have not felt any need to buy the KR version that came out after I already was using the Scangauge D. I have definitely gotten my monies worth out of the Scangauge. I use it daily to monitor things better. I like how I can tweak the settings to better match the actual data, to give me a true idea of what is going on. Factory gauges are fine, in general, but not always the best solution for each situation. And ECM data, like mpg, can be notoriously off from reality. I can tweak the mpg settings on the Scangauge and match them more closely for the actual fuel I am using. Must have it set pretty good, as it is within a gallon or two of the gallons to fill the tanks.
