Here is the latest news at Flying J in Saginaw, MI. Of course, if you hear it at Flying J, it has to be true. Supposedly Swift is getting a $44 million fine for the CDL debacle in Memphis. And also, they are all being ordered off the road "in a couple of weeks". Of course the guy who told me was convinced this must be true, because "my big brother told me". just thought everyone should know![]()

It's very possible that they could be receiving a huge fine , but a fleet wide shut down ya right
. We had a few state examiners here in town that were giving out CDL's to garbage haulers that couldn't speak or read a lick of the English language. The examiners were getting $1,000 a license, the fine was around $25,000 for each which was reduced down to around $25,000 total after it was found that they issued over 100 licenses fraudulently. The fines were assessed to individuals, not the exam site itself being that it is a Penndot center. I could see DOT placing a major fine against swift for this. On a side note if DOT was to do a forced shutdown of the entire swift fleet imagine what kind of impact that would have on the economy, both freight and fuel this could actually be a good thing for all of us across the board.

The great source of this news, when I tried to tell him found it unlikely that they would be shutting down 20000 trucks or whatever, he said "oh yeah, I heard it from my big brother!". I didn't argue too much because 1) dont really care 2) this sob was like 6'8" 350, hate to see what "my big brother" is like

Does anybody really believe that anything could come out of a multi-jurisdictional federal government operation in less than 2 months? Come on get real! It is the same old thing, nobody likes Swift because they are one of the largest companies in the country and feel if they went away things would be better so stories are made up. Checking websites of various organizations that broke the story shows no updates. Even Landline magazine show no updates. And as tight-lipped as Landline reported the Feds are about this investigation, I doubt "big brother" has any kind of inside track on the story. He probably just ate too much pizza before bed time and had a wild pipe dream.

If this is true, they will just recover their losses by taking it away from their drivers. Kind of like how they do it in their training program. We will train you, but you have to be willing to eat dog food for a year.
