I believe a person can learn it if they want to & they've got the will, by observing older drivers & learning from them.

Of course many today think they know it all.

I remember a indent when I was a young boy. I was setting in my grandmothers lap telling her that I'm bored, there's nothing to do & time is just dragging by. My grandmother replied something like this, "Jerry when you get old as I am time will just fly by." Setting in her lap I said, "Grandmother, your foolish!"

Years later I realized that I had a very smart grandmother, & many of the things she taught me has helped me very much.

Yet that day setting in her lap I was the foolish one, & many of the new truck drivers are being foolish for not learning from the older & experienced drivers.

Yes, they can learn to be professional.

Your 100% correct, many of the younger generation of truck drivers are lazy, born lazy, & will always be lazy & they want to put it in gear like in a car them put foot accelerator pedal & go.

In my 30 years of driving I never had a transmission problem. In my early years I drove a couple of trucks, they were KW's, that had over 1 million miles & the transmission that came in them was still going just fine. And I expect the power lost between the engine & the wheels was much less than in these modern day automatics.

Many of them will never learn anything for the older & more experience drivers for they think, "I know it all!"

Do you really expect an answer to that question? You know....or you should know that manual transmissions leave fewer trucks stranded that auto's. To those that think auto's are so great, I have issued the following challenge before and I issue it again:

Search this forum for manual transmission problems. For every one you find I will find two for automatics. I got not a single taker before and I don't expect to get one this time either.

Manuals have been more reliable than autos and that is an undeniable fact. I challenge anyone to prove otherwise.

When I was there earlier this year they were running 9 speeds with no word of automatic transmission.

awesome post, I've been driving for 9months, and I'd never want anything to do with a auto, I've grown up around trucks and my dad and uncle have been truck drivers and are the same way

I prefer autos not all but some.
If swift buys more, then there will be more used ones for me to choose from. :)
