Tell your buddy that's not a super trucker moment. If he knowing went over his clock and just kept driving that would be different. He did quite well in miles but its not every day he'll get that lucky. In todays trucking, super truckers are few and far between.

Hence the HOS. Get a couple burnout losers, put them in a truck to run team, promise them respect and no touch freight and ELOGs and a fleet manager to do the thinking for them, and they will gladly run for half the money that the old hands would run for. Get rid of your veterans and replace them with morons. Now, why should they pay YOU a decent wage?

Back in the day my boyfriend was a super trucker when he drove for his dad.But now hes very honest and kb uses his logs and another driver as an example for the ones who doesn't know how to log correctly.

    Couple of questions for you

    What is "enough"?
    What are "reasonable hours"?
    What is "a living"?
Who are we talking about? Where does this model driver live and what type of lifestyle does he/she want to maintain and what sort of child support must the carrier also pay? How much in the way of home, car, and bike notes are we talking about supporting? I ask these questions because it would seem these have a great deal of importance when trying to determine the answer to the first series of questions I had asked.

And BTW, typical wages of "$6,000 month" is not really practical is it? You could perhaps make this happen but there are plenty of Mexicans and Guatemalan's who would be thrilled to see that enacted ... more jobs for them who will work for a 1/3 of that and be thrilled. Be careful what you ask for because it's a very fine line between being practical for both parties and forcing one party (ownership and management) to "make the necessary adjustments" that will always hurt "the worker". Ask the union guys of the 70's how greed and unrealistic demands and wants worked out for them.

I've done that many times. However, I always classified a "super trucker" as a driver that's very aggressive with their equipment. Truck drivers are the Kings of the Road, super truckers feel that they're the king of kings.
