    So far I've read every post on this thread. I'm extremely interested in becoming an owner operator but even with eight years under my belt with SNI, I'm still freaked out. Lol.

    How long have you owned 'Betsy'? If you don't mind my asking, what kind of deal to you get on her? Mileage? Any major repairs since you purchased her?

    I've had this truck 28 months .. I gave 38k for her ..

    Right now now I got a load of dog food on .. 43,656 .. Getting 7.3 ( 7.34 )
    last load was 17,500 got 9.3 ( 9.28 )

    its a toss up on fuel economy it really depends on YOU ..if you drive it right she will treat you right

    Repairs =
    majors = clutch

    minor = shocks , brakes , alignments , Fuel check valve , Minor APU work , EHAUST LEAK , windshield

    It's all about routine Maint ..

    No reason to be scared .. It's more FEAR .. Of the unknown and the what if 's

    if you never take the leap you will always wonder WHAT IF .. We've all been there and had to make that choice ..

    The biggest advise I can give you is this : Know what you want to do as far as truck , Know what you need for a wAge , Remember it's a business and put the extra away , Don't try to go home every week in the beginning and get that best egg built up first .. ( that's where most go wrong ) ..

    Other than that it's the same thing your already doing, with out the DBL .. And you are your own travel agent

    Decided to finally take the plunge and filled out the paperwork and talked to recruiting and finance. Drew up a business plan and created spreadsheets with a bunch of numbers I crunched through. Should know next week if accepted. Decided college wasn't for me and was happier trucking even-though VA was paying for the college. Physics and math was a PITA being that's what I chose. LoL!
