So we've gone from "Never trust your GPS" to this?
Not so sure it's that easy. And if it was, how expensive would that truck be again? I have no doubt they could install a little microchip or transmitter in the sign but now we have to change every sign in America and hope no hillbilly peppers it with a 12 ga.
Sure but the point is what does it do? Shut down in the middle of the highway?
The union guys in my shop initially saw the robots as job killers and were against them. Then they soon saw that there were at least as many jobs created to fix the robot's mistakes. Mistakes on the highway come with a higher price tag.
Bad news for manual lovers

In the 60s people were going to be living on the moon soon, and everyone would be George Jetsoning around mere earth in cool little flying saucers. remember? And just over a dozen years ago, along about when "y2k" was going to cause all that havoc, everyone was going to buy their groceries by clicking the mouse and then have them show up. No more stores. Remember? This robotic truck thing might make some memories too.
HotH2o and Tonythetruckerdude Thank this. -
And I'm not talking about navigating NYC streets downtown. I'm talking strictly big main roads. -

If you'd actually read what I type instead of seeing what you want I've said it multiple times that I'm talking about BIG ROADS/INTERSTATES. Not city limits.
Ok one more time- big roads, interstates not city limit roads.
Do you have it now? Need it again?

You are so confused you don't even know what you say from one post to the next. Maybe it's because you don't know what you're talking about...just regurgitating some half baked PR ideas from truck manufacturers about C3PO and R2D2 driving trucks. Selecting gears with GPS indeed. Jibberish.

Now, what part do YOU not get about what YOU said about GPS piloting a truck? (Never mind. please don't respond. Rhetorical question).Last edited: Jul 11, 2014

They will come out with driverless trucks about
the same time they come out with pilotless airliners. Buy the way with all of this new GPS
technology and super computers that can do
almost anything. Why cant they find that $250
million dollar Malaysian airliner that disappeared
several months ago? They authorities and all of
the computer experts dont know what happened to it or where it is. You think technology is the answer to everything? Tell that to the 238 people
on that airliner that disappeared into thin air.Tonythetruckerdude, TwinStickPeterbilt, rank and 1 other person Thank this. -
I had a GM quad steer truck biggest pos I ever seen was never right. Look at the problems a simple processor such as an ECM gives yet more sensors are gonna be better? As technology gets better there is just a bigger need for my old 359
