    If you are going to use a wifi hot spot any where.

    #1 Put phone or device in Airplane Mode.

    #2 Turn on your wifi connection.

    #3 Make sure it is still in Airplane mode is on and Wifi is on

    #4 Then connect to the internet.

    #5 When you are finished using Wifi connection remember to turn off both Wifi and Airplane mode is also turned off.

    That way you can not get roaming charges at all because your are then not using a cell phone tower connection at all.

    my company provides $75/month for cell phone. $37.50 per check its up to me how i want to spend it. my rogers phone has unlimited nation wide so it doesnt matter there. the money goes to fund a US phone. picked up a Verison prepaid I phone at their store in fargo. $65/month i pocket the rest :)

    In Canada, you can Claim it on a T2200 - (Section 9)

    My former company didn't provide a cent towards cell phones and the dispatcher used my private cell like a walkie talkie. 20-30 calls per day. I finally had to get the phone shut off as he ran me up a rediculous bill.

    You can claim the expense on your taxes on a T2200.

    Oooooh! Wished I had have known that. I was just a company driver though so didn't know if you could claim that.

    It's just an expense, not a reimbursement. If his Income Rate rate is 25%, that's all he gets back in the way of a reduction in taxes payable.
