My wife is Filipina and we live in Korea so there is always rice in the rice cooker. I have a little sometimes but try to not eat it often.
She cannot live without her fish and rice ;)

YOU are not insulin dependent, so taking it shouldn’t be an issue to control your glucose levels. IT IS when you are type 1, insulin dependent that is a problem.

The guy who I took my physical with said as long as you're not on a pump they can usually get you through. That being said, he didn't seem very experienced or informed of all the regulations while conducting it (I believe "advanced practice nurse" was his title).

I was warned a few years ago my sugar was elevated and if I didn't change I was likely to have issues. Probably only changed for the worse and I passed the sugar test no problem. It doesn't seem very difficult.

Use of insulin alone does not automatically disqualify a driver, but it makes the path to being medically certified more difficult. See the below link that discusses more about the use of insulin and being medically certified to drive a CMV.

OP.....there are a host of non insulin medications that are approved for use by FMCSA. You CAN get an diabetic exemption but it is a real hassle. Many people, find that they can control their diabetes with diet and exercise alone. The post about a gluten free diet sounds like a viable option. Good luck!

Aye...true that! I have steroid induced Type II. I explained the situation to my doctor and he re-evaluated my condition and has determined that mine can be managed with healthy diet and exercise. You flyin' the J3 over? LOL

Yes , been flying every chance I get. Leaving Sunday to go back to Korea :( vacation has been great I have been taking my 6 yr old grandson flying. When we put the headsets on he says pilot pilot 1 and I say roger , loud and clear pilot pilot 2 he is more excited with the headset than the flying haha.

My wife and I have had some nice motorcycle rides and great flying days. Going to suck going back to Korea.
