I drove otr '11-'12 and it seemed like everyone had stuffed animals on the dash or belted into the passenger seat. I hardly ever see them anymore. There was something endearing about seeing these burly truckers with teddy bears and Kermits.

With the rising cost of diesel it became too expensive to idle the truck to keep the animals from suffering. A lot of drivers got cited for cruelty to animals, so drivers had to give a lot of them up to their local shelters.
