Standing up for something that is wrong, would still be wrong.

    Standing against it, is right!

    Well, that made sense.... NOT!
Funny thing is, I have went thru and read a lot of your posted responses to others. I know how fast my day goes and I am not a trucker on the road and I get very little time to respond to post. You seem to have a lot of time on your hands for a driver and go against every post from anyone else. Very interesting.... Maybe there is another reason you like to spout off against others.
Yoda, you are a waste of my time and I refuse to debate with you any longer or listen to any of your misguided thinking and logic. All I can say to others is take the time to read all of your posted replies. Kind of makes me wonder what you real job is!
You are still lacking and I quote from you "Courtesy and Courage, Sincerity and Self-control, Honor and Loyalty...a Code to Live By"!

Striking is not a solution! It is just saying "we are not going to work until you figure out a way to make fuel prices go down" That is not a solution, if you have a solution (i.e. lower fuel taxes) then you strike to lower the fuel taxes, not just to strike because the fuel prices are up.

You were quick to judge Yoda and myself because we simply disaggree with what you and some others are trying to do. Look back a month when they first shut down, did you see any changes? NOPE!

They got their 5 minutes of TV time and that was it, nothing was accomplished.

Now you said to "wake up" and see what is going on in the world, well I can say the exact same thing to you. WAKE UP AND LOOK AT GAS PRICES AROUND THE WORLD! Majorty of countries are paying WAY more than us, and the ones who are cheaper look at how many cars are on the road there.

A smart business person could care less about fuel prices, because they are a OPERATING COST which means when OPERATING COSTS go up so does the RATE they charge!

actually it looks like more than five minutes of air time got accomplished, yesterday two senators introduced a bill to right some of the wrongs in this industry, I haven't been able to see the wording of the bill yet, but it is to include language that makes sure 100% of the fuel surcharge goes to the person paying the fuel bill.

also if you knew what the people were doing on the 1ST you would have understood that it wasn't about shutting down until fuel rates went down but to draw attention to what is happening to this industry, and to bring together the small bands of people willing to stand AGAINST the bad laws and dirty tactics that are invading this business, I think it was very successful in doing that, lets see what the 28th brings before you so quickly judge something a failure

Funny thing that, OOIDA has a national call to action about the very senate bill you are discussing.. I asked permission to copy most of it to other web sites ( with attribution, and here is a copy of MOST of that Call....

    OOIDA CALL TO ACTION
    April 25, 2008
Last night U.S. Senators Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) and Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) introduced legislation which will require that 100 percent of fuel surcharges paid by shippers be passed through to whoever actually pays for the fuel to haul the shipper’s goods, obviously in most cases that’s truckers.
    S. 2910, the “Trust in Reliable Understanding of Consumer Costs Act” or “TRUCC Act” will ensure that middlemen will no longer be able to skim or pocket fuel surcharges that should be going to truckers. Senators Snowe and Brown worked closely with OOIDA on this legislation.
Please call the offices of your 2 Senators to ask them to support S.2910. Ask your Senators to commit their support for S. 2910 by signing on as cosponsors of the bill.
The legislation was just introduced so the Senators and their staff may not yet be familiar with the bill, this may be a great opportunity for you to educate them on fuel surcharges and the trucking industry.
To contact your 2 Senators, call the U.S. Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121, provide the operator with your home zip code and they will connect you with the offices of your elected representatives.
    end quote

I cannot link to that call on the OOIDA site so if you want to read the rest simply visit their site.

Strangly enough if you have seen all the "OOIDA hasn't supported us" posts else where on this site, you can also see there press releases about the 28th and many other articles about various protests.

Striking is not the only way to get something done, OOIDA has been trying to get this surcharge legislation passed for years and has gotten it past the house but never through the Senate.. Hopefully with the attention the protests have generated, and the 28th and the lobbying of OOIDA and the phone calls and emails from the members we can accomplish this finally.

I use a web site to send email to my senators and congressman, I know of several that will allow you to do this, but again cannot link to any one.

I am now allowed PMs and would be glad to name several to anyone who does not know one. The important thing is not which way you choose to notify your Senators of your views, BUT that you do talk or email them. ( in my opinion)

I hope that everyone will contact their representatives. I have asked mine to meet with the protestors the 28th, I hope everyone is including that also.

OOIDA didn't do anything but try to stop the 4/1 protest and came out against it as a bad idea that is until they say that it worked to generate awareness to the situation and then they came out wanting to take the lead, sorry you cannot lead from the cheap seats, they made a mistake by not understanding just how many O/os are pizzed and are now willing to come together and work to effect change.
