I did that a few years ago for driving glasses, til they got stolen. 😡 Lately tho, I don't need readers for the gauges, I only need them to read a map or paperwork.

both have their benefits and cons

I like driving night for the traffic reasons but parking can be worse depending where you are headed and some of the stores I deliver to end up shutting off their dock lights at night and can be a pain in the dark seeing where your backing. Daytime I tend to be able to back much easier into docks and parking is much easier to find but traffic can be horrible depending where I am headed.

For the most part I drive a mid/night shift starting between 2-4 in the afternoon and then shutting down during the early morning

I don't sleep well during the day, so I like to be done by 01:00, but I work when I need to works.

As many before me have stated, driving during the evening has many benefits...less, traffic, most scales are closed (etc). But one of the big drawbacks of driving at night is that you might need to use the hopper at a rest area and there is not a single space available to park. I have had some scary instances of having to drive because there was no way I could park . Yes I have pulled over on the highway and jumped the fence with a handful of paper towels. Did not like doing that, but I had no choice.

Yuck... People that use those are probably the same ones that toss that crap (literally) out the door at truck stops. Blah... Seriously...who the heck wants to be hauling around a "Home Depot" bucket of feces and urine in their sleeper? ...Good grief.

Happened to me this morning. three rest stops in a row where filled up, got to one with one open spot, then when I was in the ####### a swifty decided to go to bed in the exit lane, I had to use some air horn to jump start his brain and cause him to activate his decision making ability,,,,

Many years ago going south out of Bakersfield a truck had pulled over on the shoulder, he had a roll of toilet paper in his hand & seemed to be running as fast as he could to get behind the one & only tree that could be seen for many miles about 1500 to 1800 yards off the road.

Back in the day I usually would stop & fuel at McLains at Elpaso. The fellow that ran the place told me once a driver came pulling in to the full service pumps quite fast, sliding his wheels to a stop, jumped out yelling, "Fill it up," while running to the door while holding his britches up, but dropped his britches with everything falling to his ankles & tripped just before entering the door, & made a big mess on their driver-way!

He said, "At the time I felt so sorry for this truck driver & did not laugh the least bit, yet when I think back on that moment its kind of funny to me." I asked him did you make him clean it up? He said no, "I walked over & helped him get up telling him to go on that I would wash the driver way off."

One never knows when its going to hit them!
