Running With Schneider - 2 (As IC Choice for more than a year now!)

Well all my talk about doing good in the west might be going to hell!

Having to deadhead my ### out of salt lake to pick up in Vegas. It was just about my best option at this point. Pays ok including deadhead and is fairly light..25000 lb heading to Kent WA. Hopefully I can find a shorty up there for Monday to add on to this week.

In my opinion the load choices out here has dropped off fast and think we are heading into slow months of summer. Most loads in Utah don't pick up til 21st ish or have way to much time on them for delivery. I usually grab a cheap load out of here and boogy on down to Cali, stop by house and grab a nice paying load out of Fontana area.. Not this time!! Ughh

Might have to seriously consider running east for awhile! That is trucking, things change will see how it goes..

Your probably right.. Think I might of just been in wrong place wrong time kinda thing. There is plenty of freight it just doesn't always line up with my schedule.. It works out eventually tho.

 

So last week I deadheaded from Salt Lake UT to Las Vegas NV about 465 miles ughh .. Get there and check in with shipping and they say we don't have a load for SNI. WTH...! huh?? Here we go ...geezz here comes that 1 out 10 chance I take a long deadhead and load and it cancels.. Crap! So sure enough ..Call Schny, get put on hold for about 30 minutes or so and they come back with sorry someone else picked that load up on the 17th.. WTF... i picked darn load off the board on the 18th and it wasn't suppose to be pickup until the 19th ??? No figure.

Anyway got paid $150 for canceled load so that helps. The kicker is now in Vegas and no loads I could pick up in near future. It was the weekend most anything worth grabbing didn't pick up till Monday and it was Saturday. So what do I do?? Can't afford to sit around, as much as i would have love to just hang out in Vegas go to Casino or show. Nope got to move.. so I find a really high paying load out of Fontana and deadhead another 250 miles to get that load. All in all ended that week with little over $800 take home. Certainly not the best week and that Cancelled load hurt a bit but still did ok.. I can deal with that! If I would of sat and waited for a load my check would of been $0, zip, Nothing, Nana! if you know what I mean..

In my book deadheading to get the loads (even tho 1 cancelled) paid off in the end.
