Was you aware that USA had auto's before going there?I wouldn't be mad about it,there will be time for a manual.USA just wants you to get the exp first and see how you handle an auto.

In five years 90% of major company fleets will all be automatic, more and more companies are switching to them every day. We are in an era of self driving trucks and cars just over the horizon, to be manually shifting a truck with your hand is old technology that is quickly going to disappear. Just watch.

I love automatics; stick shift is old school and antiquated.

Automatics have been around a long time. And they'll be around a long time. But a manual doesn't cost as much to maintain and several companies (interstate, us express, etc) have gotten away from automatics and went back to manual transmissions.

Better gas mileage at today's fuel prices more than makes up for any additional maintenance issues, besides all these tales about maintenance problems come from the old original automatics. Maybe when diesel cost $1.89 a gallon it wasn't worth it, but with diesel routinely hovering around the $4.00 a gallon range, any improvement in fuel economy can add millions upon millions of dollars to a companys bottom line.

We got 10 automatics. All 2015 Cascadia Evolutions. Freightliner said "10 miles to the gallon!" Barely cracking 7.2. What we already get with the 10 speeds.
