Unless they bought out a few more companies in the last 3 yrs, but when I was there the only company they bought out was Parrett, and they didnt specialize in anything, they were and O/O outfit. Thats how they got the whole MavIC deal rolling.

Hi I am starting my CDL training 4/28/2008 at the local Community Collage near me & I am wanting to work for Maverick. I was wondering about the training process I have read on here about the process for non CDL holders, how they train you & you work for 6 mon. Is the training all the same? How long are you out with a driver trainer? Now to my understanding it is $400 a week during training & $550 for 1 week of orientation? To me that sounds better then 350 a week (TMC's pay) TMC has been calling me wanting me to drive for them but Maverick sounds like a better place for me.
I probably would have just went right to Mav. for my CDL too but my school is already paid for.

You can take that into consideration, depends on just what you are saying, I had three teachers in CDL school, the 3 of 'em had fifty years exp, OTR, the school did not advertise it that way but they could say they had fifty years exp. on the staff.

They arent like nazi's or anything. They just want their drivers to convey professionalism. Ya know, just taking a little pride in your apperance. You can have a beard, goatee, mustache, whatever, you just gotta keep it trimmed up. Not just a bush with wild hairs hanging out all over the place. If you got long hair, they prefer that it stays in a ponytail while at the consignee, no ripped up ratty clothes or t-shirts with anything that someone might complain about being offensive. They like for their drivers to stay showered too. No going without a shower to the point they can smell you pulling into the lot.:puke:As far as tattoos go, I have tats on my lower forearms and it was never an issue. And although you didnt mention it, but just in case someone else is wondering, I'm not sure about facial piercings. I used to have a eyebrow ring, but I had taken it out before I went to the company. That is something someone would have to ask about. But there were drivers there with tounge piercings.

Thanks for the info. I am going to be at Maverick for orientation on June 28 provided everything works out right. Since you are being helpful I hope you don't mind another question. I would like some advise on what to bring as far as clothes, bedding etc.. to orientation. I'm going in the long haul division and understand that after orientation I will be on the road for 3 -6 weeks. Realizing that I'll be living in close quarters with another driver for that time and don't want to take any more than I need. Any tips?
