Good point Pattyj. I keep hearing how many drivers sit in the drivers seat once people hit the truckstops. I don't mean to judge how others spend their time, but I just don't get it.
So what did you do with your life? "I sat in the drivers seat and drove truck".
That's great, but what did you do in your off time? "I sat in the drivers seat and looked out the window".
It seems people might need to look into some hobbies or outside interests, or maybe I'll understand when I start driving.

crosscut - Thanks for the tip; I've looked into them thanks to your post. These things appear to be the perfect fitness solution for drivers. -
My over sized fingers are getting some exercise on this silly little touch screen key board, curtains drawn, parked in the back of the lot, sitting on the edge of the bottom bunk, wanting to pick some more fresh, ripe, black berrys.. think I'll go for a walk in a few
Wild Murphy Thanks this. -
That's hilarious. You are on point. Laziness is a choice in this profession and you are better off making the choice not to be lazy before you even start driving.Wild Murphy, pattyj and bergy Thank this.

I don't carry weights. Alot of time walk back and forth to and from Ts several times, eat light, alot of our trailers are not in best of shape for sliding tandems so getting in and out of truck helps alot. I started trucking school 325 last march im down to 270

How many of you maintain memberships with national chains (Bally's, 24 hour Fitness) that have locations in most major markets and pay the extra $5-$10 per month for "All Club" access? This way, when you have a required rest stop/layover, you can get in a workout and a fresh shower?
ZephyrSoCal and bergy Thank this. -
Flatbed drivers don't need to get exercise they get enough of a workout tarping and untarping. But van drivers,to be honest there's more lazy drivers then anything else. But boyyyyyyyyy doesn't take them long to get to the buffet table.Once you get out there you'll see drivers just sitting in the front seat for an or longer. It's their health and or weight but I figure drivers would wanna do something about it.Of course there's days that trucking can really wear ya out especially when its sweltering hot outside but not everyday is like that.
DevilDog79 and bergy Thank this. -
Im all for joining a fitness club if at home but on the road rather just walk around the lot at truckstops rest area or customers.Getting a dog is great motivation to get out and get some exercise.

I have had dogs in my life, for most of my life and sometimes you wonder who is walking who... Besides, I have never been much of a walker (I walked too much when I was in the Army with 40-60 pounds of gear hanging from me). I relish the opportunities I get to get in the water to do more than splash around, or get on a bicycle and go somewhere interesting (on road or off)....
