I don't agree that all drivers believe that The Law is a common foe trying to screw us and trip us up. I don't believe that for a second myself. Usually people who believe that The Law is an enemy as the people laws were written because of in the first place. A drivers license is a privilege, not a right and to say that when given that privilege "I liked to get loaded and see how fast I could drive" and now say I have a love of driving tells a lot. I sure hope someone with this mindset doesn't hit my wife and child who also share these roads. In a small car, not 80,000 lbs. This profession has rules. The laws are not just hindrances to try and get around.

look at smaller companies and non trucking companies. I donT know about the criminal record. But I had a 37 in a 20 ticket 4 Months before i got my first commercial driving job and it was not an issue where i got hired. I am a local delivery driver for a paint company

Wait until it's been at least three years from your speeding ticket and start applying.
-
You made one mistake? Or is that the first time you got caught?
I am not saint when it comes to speeding. I have gotten a few tickets myself in my 28 years of driving. All of my tickets were in 55 mph or higher zones.
Coming into a 25 still doing 54 is beyond irresponsible.
If you change your attitude first and then your driving habits, wait for that one to fall off your MVR.Wild Murphy and semi retired semi driver Thank this. -
It's called a setup. Easy catch for the cops. Drive smarter.

The little town just north of where I live has 'SPEED TRAPS'. From 55 to 30 right at the edge of the village. There could easily and should be a 45 up to a 1/4 mile out, but no. Revenue over safety. -
I had 4 points on my license before i even had a license. I had a bad driving record at the age of 15. When I turned 18 they made the mistake of giving me a license and I racked up 8 more points as well as one suspension and landed myself on driver probation with CA DMV. In Los Angeles the police will pull you over for anything but thats not my excuse because the one that got my license revoked was the Driving on the wrong side of the road while failing to yeild for pedestrians and running a red light.
First time i was puled over for a traffic violation at gun point, then again, i did flee from them. PS i was being chased by armed gunman at the time. No bs. I too had a colorful past. They took my license at the age of 19 and I still drove. Ive lost over 6 cheap cars to impound and spent 3 months in jail for diving without a license and still didnt give a ####. I had issues.
Then i had a kid at 21. From that moment on I worked hard, Paid nearly 12 thousand dollars in fines, took classes and got my licnese back. 6 months after i got my lincense back i went to trucking school. The job placement lady always enjoyed a good laugh about how noone would hire me, but i still paid the 5k and got my license. Passed every test the first time.
1 week after school i was hired by a owner operater who had only 4 trucks. I works hard and have received a couple rookie tickets, but signed up with TVC and they knock that #### out. I was the guy who is not going past 58 in californias state wide 55mph zone. Now i never hit over 60 in ca. Call it redemption. I look ahead and all around me, Im patient and take it slow and i show respect for the other drivers out there that have been doing this for a long time.
It looks bad on all drivers when one driver does something stupid. This is a serious industry and has no room for people like who i used to be. Im 25 now and I make 1200 - 1400 bucks a week. My MVR clears a three year easy and i put down 5500 to 6500 safe miles almost every week and im planning on buying on my own truck at the end of this year.
Do not take no for an answer. If you want something or have to do something for your children, do that ####. You would be surprised at what a lawyer can do for your driving record, and once you go through the trials of redemption you wont want to go back.
You must also remember that every vehicle and person around your truck while you are barreling down a highway or street has trusted the state to trust you with thier lives. Your lack of professionalism and judgement can cause horrific amounts of damage and death with these vehicles and you can very easily find yourself in prison. So treat this #### seriously everytime you turn that ignition or release those brakes.
Take care and good luck. PS, look for the small companies and owner ops. 1099s
