Almost got this week wrapped up. Short day today only 330 or so miles because my load is ready for the next pickup... but there won't be anybody there to do the paperwork until 8am. WTF? This place runs 24/7 and anytime I've ever shown up before at this shipper there is ALWAYS someone there. Bull****. Now I have to wake up at noon and drive in traffic to get this delivered in PA before cutoff tomorrow night. Booooooo. Then I'll be at Carlisle for a 34, hopefully I can get to the OC before 1am that way I can actually get a restart in without having to sit for 2 days.

Two questions:
A few posts ago I talked about showing up at a shipper and the load was gone and we couldn't get another one worked out. I ended up getting on the load board and booking a different load out of the same city, but a different shipper. Since I showed up at the first shipper and the load was gone, does this count as a vehicle not used and I can get the $150 for it?
Also, I posted about the trailer I picked up and had to bring through Charlotte (OOR around 50-70 miles) to get some work done on it, because there was no place that was open on weekends during the hours when I'm awake on my route. I got SEM to send me a message telling me to bring it to Charlotte. He also said to get "DBL" approval, but I have no DBL (just ICA) and it doesn't matter anyway because they were at home asleep since it was the middle of the night, lol. Should I be able to get compensated for the OOR mileage that it cost me to come through Charlotte? -
I don't see a problem.

Yes to both.

Cost me $883 to get truck fix. I did not get it towed, it started in gear. Had to relay load and drop the pre assignment. It was the speed sensor gone bad, they had to drop the drive line to get to it. I was told it had to be extracted out, because sensor was seized. The Kit cost $101, it was the labor that killed me. I just booked a load from Wooster, Oh to Charlotte, Nc. A good paying load going into a descent frieight lane.

Well no good news on getting the pay for my issues this week. I *may* be able to get the VNU for the load that someone else grabbed the trailer on, but the person who was supposed to handle that isn't in today, getting the runaround, *may* appear on next settlement *if* it can, blah blah blah. Who knows how that will work out. Not a HUGE deal since I found another load a few miles away, but still, as far as my contract is concerned I believe that is a Vehicle Not Used and I'm entitled to the $150.
But the bigger issue I have is with this next one:
I had a load this week, I picked it up and the trailer had no brake shoes left on the rear axle and lights out. Called SEM to see if the Wingfoot that wasn't too far along the way was open on weekends when I would be awake - only open from 7am to 12pm when I was asleep since I was running nights. Next I offered to pull the trailer through Charlotte since of course that shop is open 24/7. Really the only realistic option since they could fix it while I was on my 10.
Guy at SEM agrees with me and tells me to just get with my contacts about getting paid for the extra mileage to bring it through Charlotte. I do that today and guess what - here is what I get:
They treat it just like a trailer search - less than 50 miles (according to workflow, not actual mileage) and I don't get paid a cent. Of course, odometer wise, it was above 50. But from SNIs routing standpoint? Only 29 miles. So I don't see one penny for the extra fuel and time I spent to bring SNIs trailer to SNIs shop to get it repaired.
So they're just gonna bend me over like that.
Next time this situation occurs, I won't let my 5th wheel touch that trailer, I will tag the trailer out of service so no other driver can hook to it, inform SEM of the problem, and let SNI eat a $125/hour road repair to send mobile service out there to remove the wheels/brake drums/shoes in the customers yard, but not until after they work out getting the trailer moved so the mobile service guy actually has room to work on it since the trailers are parked so close together. I know the jockeys attitude at this place and they will laugh and tell SNI to send a daycab out to move the trailer because shuttling trailers around outside of moving them to and from the dock is outside of their job description.
**** that bull****. Last time I try to do the right thing for this company.Lonesome, stevep1977, mickimause and 3 others Thank this.
