Close enough LOL. When you watch the sun set first then watch it rise again before you shut down you have reached full vampire.
-
I use to like going full vampire. Don't think I'll be doing it again until they get rid of that new 34 restart rule though.
-
Kind of have to be in vampire mode when they give you loads that are tightly scheduled and force you to run overnight lol. On a 30 minute break for mega coffee intake before knocking out another 300 miles. I like running nights except for the fact that I can't sleep these really early schedules. Ideally I'd run from 1 or 2 pm til 3 or 4 am, can do that sleep pattern no problem. Starting my day at 11pm and running til around noon? Get into the 4 hour sleep pattern.
-
Yep that kills me. The one nice thing about running nights and recapping is that even if you have a crappy recap one day, you can combine it with your next midnight recap gain and still be able to knock out a decent chunk at once.
I can't change up the pattern much. I know some people can do that driving one day during the day, then switch over to nights like its nothing... I can't do that, not even close. I usually try to shut down between 4am to 6am, though this week I've gone as far as 8am, but it sucked that's for sure. I try to always shut down at the same time regardless of when I start my day, that way I generally get tired and am ready to sleep at the same time, even if it means having a shorter day.mickimause and gentleroger Thank this. -
695 mile day..........14 min left on my 14:00.....
Awoke at 2 am and drove the 335 miles to deliver my load, only to find there were no empties....
Got an mt search pretty quickly, only 20 miles OOR, so drive the 62 miles and get there only to find the Customer is a convenience store!?!?! Now where would they hide a trailer here?!??
Call up ICA, who of course gets the box planner involved, who can't understand why I got sent there in the first place, there was never a trailer there?!?!? So they tell me to bobtail the remaining 150 miles to my pu....
Which I do, and when I get to GP what do they tell me.......You can't have a load without an mt.....We require an email from our office in Green Bay to allow us to release your load without you having an mt...........
Back on the phone with the ICA, who talks to Customer Service, who says they sent the email to Corporate GP in Green Bay three hours ago, but they will send another one.....10 mins later I walk back up to the window and I am good to go!!!!
Grab the load and drive another 120 miles to the Peelot at Exit 33 on I-20 in LA. 409 miles to San Antonio to do in the morning. Can be there at 10 am but my live driver unload is scheduled for 10 pm....... Tried to get an earlier apt today but of course no one was there....Gonna try again in the morning....I'll be up at 2 am to drive there and if they won't take me early I'll shut down for my 10 and then do true vampire hours tomorrow night after unloading this trailer and picking up my WI load 2 miles away.....
Hopefully find out Monday what the truck situation will be, either way I will be in Green Bay on Thursday, my load delivers to Milwaukee......
That's all folks............Grijon, mattbnr, mickimause and 2 others Thank this. -
Well... Awoke at 2 and drove the 409 miles to San Antonio... And now I sit at the Pilot for 12 hrs because my unload appt is at 10 pm and god forbid I get an earlier one! So I'll be driving vampire hours tonight after lounging here at the ts all day.....
mickimause Thanks this. -
I'll bet you're going to HEB off 35 if so they don't start unloading until 10 pm if you need a place to park afterwards there's a sni drop yard off I 10
sadwar Thanks this. -
The question of the hour is when will they finish?
-
Doesn't really matter, for once. When they are done unloading I am picking up my WI bound load one mile away at Frito-Lay and then driving all night, or at least through Dallas into OK.
