Hello everyone. Thanks for the great advice so far. I know what my fixed cost will be, fuel will be the untold part, I have a brand new truck so fuel mpg should be pretty good, but other than that I am ready for my new adventure. I have heard the good and bad of being a O/O but just wanted some advice from the folks that do this day in a day out. I think am I am on the right path, but you always like to hear from seasoned folks on the good and bad of this business. Thanks
knuckledragger and ew2108 Thank this. -

um bud they dont run you... you run yourself. maybe you should blame yourself at being a bad business manager

Oh please I've been successful everywhere but there..I know the rates ur getting I ran them.ur lost or have no other bills to worry about at home..as a successful owner op u should be able to bring home 3k a week after expenses which I do..so keep fooling ur self if u think 1700 is a good week moron..I gross over 8k a week running where I want without having to sit on a 400 mile run for 2 days because they won't let u deliver early..they give the money making loads to the company drivers and I'm not the only one who knows that.i had other friends lose their arse with that cheap van freight..I've been doing this 20 yrs jack I know what I'm doing..only went there in 08 when the bottom fell out of new construction when I was pulling flatbed for builders.heck I bet u rarely see 1700 a week...lol

dieselfuelonly and Jar-Head Thank this. -
Just saying if u had read my original post thoroughly u would have seen where I stated I put over a 100k miles on the truck in 10 months or less..I assure u I wasn't dead heading all around the country..I ran hard and still do but it didn't matter there simply because it was impossible there to get a good paying load going in and coming out it was always crap on the back end..u have to be consistent to be successful. .sorry if I took offense to u calling me a bad business man but ur only as successful as the rates u haul allows u to be..and yes I need my woman..lol..I apologize for blowing up but it wasn't easy going from netting 90k a year to 20k in 10 months on that choice program..if it works for you don't let me discourage you..but if u want to make more I know where to send you

Sounds to me like maybe you should have looked to see what kind of freight was coming out of the area that the high paying loads delivered in that you were booking before you booked them. Sounds like poor business management to me. Not much point in making a bunch of money on one load if your just gonna lose most of it on the next
