we all are... that is how "Representative republics" work.. I could not STIFF my customer who are already paying higher rates and full 59 cent a mile fuel sur charge, but a friend of mine is there with his daughter taking videos, and via cell phone keeping several radio personalities updated so they can talk about it on their talk shows...

Those of us who couldn't go because of other obligations are there is spirit...

I AM a HOUSEWIFE! And I have been too freaking busy here fighting for the rights of the tuckers who come into this screwy state to drive to Washington, or I would be in Washington being a Pain in Congress' collective butts in order to effect change on a national level. Just because I am a housewife, worked in a convenience store, or anything other than driving a truck, does NOT mean I have no understanding or sympathy for this industry as a whole. This whole household has a VERY thorough understanding of the whole trucking industry, and not just because my husband is a trucker.

Being Guys Lady makes you one of us, but how many of your neighbors who are not married to or related to truckers spend any time working on trucker issues EXCEPT when all of a sudden we are convenient to their political agendas..

As to OOIDA even you can use other eyes looking for things that will affect you in far distant locations... again OOIDA does work for YOU!

OOIDA has not done a blasted thing for us! They have refused to get involves in the emmision control issues, or the anti idle issue, even when asked to. All the noise that has been made in this state about the BS, has been done by a collection of housewives! And not all of them are connected to truckers.

The grassroots effort on this started when I opened my big mouth and told the guys that though women may be catty creatures, we could be a H*** of alot more effective than they could... Oops, open mouth, insert foot. THe guys have talked, and done nothing.. the women started talking, and talking and talking... it started with TWO women talking to friends and co-workers.... and word spread. NOw we have more than 150 of us, bugging the State Assembly, State Senate, Governor, and CARB officials every chance we get.

OOIDA has done nothing. OSHA is starting to fight for us. Progress? Some. NOt enough. But more than the drivers themselves have made... Simply because we have stuck together. Where the men haven't.

Lady, bravo! <clapping for lady> Well said.

Tell me where to sign up so that I can help. I feel like I am bashing my head against the wall with a few of the ones here who seem to think I should not be involved. GRRRRRRRRrrrrr.....

Yoda, Excuse me for butting in but I have fought right along side of my hubby for truckers rights in the past. This time I am fighting for more than just trucking rights. If you read other post you will see a lot of dedicated people (truckers and the rest of us) are fighting just as hard to make changes. Desperately needed changes...

Don't worry about the others. There are those of us who will GLADLY take any help we can get! You can PM me thru any Moderator, if you cannot PM me directly.

Whether SOME of these drivers will ever admit it or not, we will NEED the support of the general public if this strike is to ever be effective.

Just find someone who, beneath their name, it says "Trucking Forum Staff. Private Message them, and they will forward it to me. But make sure you let them know it is for me.
