We have 2 guys at my terminal in Harrisburg PA that do make 80k a year. They've been with JB Hunt for over 20 years though and both work 69 to 69.75 hours a week. 60 to 70k is normal though if you work 12-14 hour days 5 days a week.

If your looking to see a pay stub sorry I can't provide you with one showing that you can make 80k a year.

I work for Werner... I only made $450 a week when I was in training... when I got my truck and went solo.. there was a learning curve, and I had to get up to speed.. so in the beginning I was only making around $700 to $800 a week..

But, it didnt take long to figure things out and run more effeciently and started consistently making $1000 or more a week...

All companies expect their drivers to pick up and deliver on time, take care of the equipment and not run into things... and drivers who can do that will get good loads and miles....

Drivers who cant manage their time, run effeciently, or have avoidable mishaps will get crapy loads and little miles... until they either improve or quit....

Werner, and other companies have plenty of loads for drivers wno can and will run on time, safe and effeciently. .. so there is opportunity to make money....

But it is CPM and accessory pay, and you only have 14 hours day where you can do your pretrip, get loaded/unloaded and get as many miles as you safely can for 11 hours and get safely parked and do a post trip, then you have to 10 before you can make more money....

The reason companies treat drivers poorly is because of people like you.

You asked them for a job.
They were kind enough to give you a job.
    You can't handle the job.
So you screw the company by leaving their expensive investment on the side of the road?

Thanks a lot for adding to the negative stereotype of drivers.

Well I'm home every night, shower daily, and get to stretch out in my king size bed and don't sleep in a small little bunk in a truck stop with reefers running loud keeping me up, no lot lizards banging on the door of my truck I'll take intermodal. I'm off two days a week and get to do whatever I want during that time vs being stuck in a truck stop or terminal where I'm limited to what I can do since you can't take the truck everywhere. The gross pay is the same if not better then otr and when you break it down by the hour much better so there is no logical reason whatsoever to go back to over the road truck driving at all.

If you got a family look at it this way would you rather come home every night and be able to make love to your wife, see your kids daily, and have two days off each week to spend quality time together or you would prefer to make your wife in essence a single mother since you are never there, your kids strangers since you are hardly ever home, and when you are off your family is not use to you being there so instead of being quality time it's you trying not to disrupt there routines and them adjusting to you being there.

dac doesn't recognize the fair credit reporting act. nor does it recognize the privacy act.

    NOTHING goes away.

that's why the recent lawsuit, brought on by some drivers, against fmcsa.

dac is your library for your entire life history. almost.

i have my dac, hot off the press. it disproves that 7 year myth.

Sadly, this is the way some people want to handle a bad situation nowadays. Instant gratification. Quit, done. I've had tons of jobs and always quit with some kind of notice. I agree with most, do it right. Abandonment is the worst thing you can do, and it will bleed over into ANY other job you go into, not just trucking. This is such a classic case of, maybe I'll try trucking, how hard can it be. Trucking works for some, OTR works for some, but I've found, trucking has to be in your blood, and generally, someone who has never been exposed to trucking, through family or friends, and wants to "give it a try", aren't going to make it. To the OP, it's good at least you asked, rather than just abandoning the truck. It shows you have some respect, do it the right way. You've got a long road ahead of you.

Whatever decision you make, do NOT abandon the truck!
Tell your supervisor that you are quitting, follow his or her instructions on returning the truck, go out in a decent respectful way.

Whatever line of work you go into, you still need to list Werner as your last employer, just in case your future employer decides to call Werner to find out what kind of an employee you were.

Do NOT burn your bridges behind you!

    Good luck to you!

Do what you gotta do,,the big carriers have drivers that do recoveries,,most have several drivers that do this,,best to go to the nearest terminal and drop the truck off,,many companies will tell you to take it to a specified truckstop,,they all (big fleets) will ding your DAC<<there are many companies that don't use DAC<<It will not hurt your credit,,
