hippy, a glider is a new truck chassis with usually a reman motor , reman transmission in stalled at the dealer,... you get factory warranty on the chassis, manufacturer's warranty on motor and trans... check truck trader by listing glider kits in the search options... the upside to a glider is better fuel mileage, (older pre epa emissions), easier to work on your self, if you want to, cheaper to repair after warranty period... can be cheaper than a new truck (non glider), the only down side i see is can't go to California, (or that is an upside in mho )... there is a dealer in IA , Harrison i think, selling a lot of freightliners, columbias and coronados ... may want to call them semper fi

After further review I calculated my gross this week I posted . I was 53.00 off not much but it's still off
MATH IS NOT MY STRONG SUIT :)

Also got 50.00 on a 62 mile trailer search which also I did not include cause it just happened today so my net should be right at 100 above what I posted so roughly $ 2800 net this week if all keeps falling into place ..

To put my $2800 net into prospective for anyone thinking about doing a LEASE through SNI if your truck note was roughly $1000 weekly ( all in ) you'd net around 1800 on this week I just dispatched myself on which is not to bad for having a new truck etc ..

The 2800 is my NET but as you all know I brought BETSY with me .. When I joined SNI .

Just wanted to give that prospective if it was not already implied

That's about 3x what I NET now as a company guy pulling tankers for OFC. I'm using the lease through SNI number. Not your net number with your truck.

Went to the Schneider lease page. Wasn't a lot of help so I figured I would fill out an application so they could contact me and I could start coming up with a plan for next year. Let me explain a little....

I come up with a plan and options for almost everything I do. My son and I just started but if leasing or purchasing a truck is something we would like to do a year from now we need a plan. We need to go over costs and weigh the pro's and con's of purchasing versus leasing. We would both be fine driving a company truck but we wouldn't have the flexibility to choose our loads or where we were going. Now that I explained that....

I finally talked with a guy and he told me for teams the lease rate was $1200 a week for a new truck. I did the quick math and said "Thats over $115,000 for two years" to which he replied well that includes the maintenance package. Shouldn't a new truck already have some sort of warranty?? Just my thinking. Anyhow he told me they would have to review the application and he would get back to me.

Received an email today saying I was denied because I didn't have enough experience. Got it! No experience but how can I make an educated decision and properly make a plan if Schneider Finance wants to keep everything all "Secret Squirrel"?

I'm going to look at other leasing companies and check out financing.

OFC ? is that your gross or after tax you talk about 3x so that's roughly 600 a week right ? Is that what your saying

i think they require 6mths exp not 100% sure

on the Maint account that is a account that SNI REQUIRES for NON WARRANTY issues such as Brakes , Tires , Lights , Glass , etc .. It's your money still just look at it as a savings account or escrow . The truck payments there selves are less than the quoted amount . The quoted amounts include the Maint account also which on a new truck is less in the beginning then it grows , so on your math on the 115,000 in 2 years is correct but it would be safe to say you'd have close to 30-35k of that in your Maint account so subtract the Maint from total payments ant that's the truck cost for 2 years because remember the Maint funds are still yours and are refundable to you at the end of your lease term .

    Hope that helps some

    Hippy ,

on outside financing you may find it more difficult until you hit 1 and in some cases 2yrs on outside finance deals . I think to get started as a TEAM - SNI would most likely better serve you because you will be familiar with the freight base and operation

Just so I'm on the UP & UP ...

Im not pimping the SNI lease deal , heck I brought my own truck to SNI . But I will say when you look at the TOTAL PACKAGE it's not all that bad when you consider what your getting .. The payments for some of the same trucks would be roughly the same but the difference would be ( the required Maint fund ) being about the only difference ..
