Congrats. Glad we could help. I was where you are over a year ago...time flies. Before you know it, you'll be passing on YOUR experiences and advice, and this thread will live on forever.
Extreme4x4, Houdini'1, drozzer69 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Hey Guys. I just wanted to give you an update. On the 11th I went to the DC in Beaver Dam for an interview, pre-trip and driving test. I passed those and signed the conditional offer. I was then sent for a DOT physical and drug screen. I am now waiting for the CBC to come back and I will be good to go. I was offered a 6/3 schedule during the interview. My HAZMAT license showed up the same day(took only 2 weeks). Everyone at the DC were very pleasant and professional.
I want to thank every one of you who gave advice through this entire thead. Your help and advice helped immensely.
Thanks Guys!!!drozzer69 Thanks this. -
You're gonna LOVE the 6/3. Its more like 5.5/3.5 cuz you'll hit your 70 hours midway into your 6th day, then 3 1/2 days off! Little less money than a 5/2 but the time off, to me anyway, is worth more than the little money I'd lose per year. Works out about $5,000 less per year based on a $300 ADP. A three day weekend every week is fine with me.
Can't believe your haz mat came so fast. You're obviously not in NY LOL.
Well congrats. Takes about 2 weeks for the CBC to come back, then an orientation date. Welcome.billthetrucker Thanks this. -
I was suprised the HAZMAT came back so fast. I think it was because I have a TWIC card and I believe Homeland does both background checks.
I'm hoping I have a few hours left on the 6/3 so I can work a little extra. It will be hard getting used to not staying out for 1-3 weeks and having 1-3 days off(OK. That part I won't miss...). I'll miss not spending alot of time with my wife(umm, I won't miss that, either). I'll miss becoming a big, dirty, sweaty mess when loading and unloading(you see my point). I can't wait to get started!drozzer69 Thanks this. -
Congratulations Bill. No surprise your hazmat came back quickly from the DHS. It helps when you have a clear background. Having a TWIC card does not matter since DHS does a new background check each time.

Hi guys and gals, I have been keeping an eye on this thread for quick some time now. I enjoy reading this thread, you are professional, courteous, and helpful. From all of your comments it looks like Walmart is a place that you truly can build a career in driving. Thanks to this thread I have been seriously considering applying to Walmart. I have been driving since '01, but took a mechanic job, 4 years ago and didn't get back in a truck until 1 1/2 years ago. My question is about the min. requirement of 3 years current driving experience. This that a consecutive 3 years, or a collective 3 years? Thank you all for your insight and knowledge and especially for your professionalism. Anthony

- No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle resulting in a fatality (lifetime)
- No preventable DOT recordable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last 10 years
- No more than 1 non-preventable accident while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three years
- No more than two moving violations while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicle in the last three years
- No serious traffic violations while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three years
- No convictions for a DUI, DWI, OUI, or reckless driving with alcohol/drugs involved within the last 10 years

As Tom has eluded to, the requirement is the last three consecutive years. You'd have to keep at it for another year and a half. It'll be worth the wait though.
