I didn't read each page, did someone already suggest FMLA?...First, can you prove you told them? If not, I'd say it's over...

Agree, a "no response" on the message should have been a call to action(CYA) not an assumption...TruckDuo Thanks this.

I think the bottom line is, GET IT ON THE QUALCOMM. Also, take a good PHOTO of the Qualcomm screen with your conversation on it. This saved my but years ago in a similar situation with Schneider. They tried to turn tables on me to save a Driver Reps job, I told them on the phone I had a pic of the QUALCOMM page (which they had cleared of course, lol). Needless to say, I kept my job and the guy trying to use me as a scape goat did not.
BigBluePeter Thanks this. -
I went to orientation with USXpress and they demonstrated to me that they are what you say they are, a bad company to work for. The orientation was very disorganized.
I didn't do particularly well on my road test but was promised a re-test. It had been nearly a month since truck driving school and that's a long time to lay off. They reneged on the re-test. That's their perogative, because I didn't drive well.
What was unconscionable was the other people who were weeded out.
- A young man with some accidents on his record was encouraged to quit his job without notice and work for USXpress. They changed their mind, so the kid was left with no job, no money, and a 36-hour bus trip home. I gave him $40 so he could eat.
- A husband and wife team showed up to orientation and the wife couldn't complete some silly agility drill walking like a duck under a table and back. So they were eliminated.
I really don't like USXpress. -
The duck walk strikes again! California Cajun, that husband and wife team had God watching over them. US Xpress orientation is just based on numbers. If they send 6 people out of 60 home, it doesn't matter to them. There will be 60 more people at orientation the next day. As for organization, did you feel like a corralled animal just pushed through to the next pen as they quickly weed out people for reasons that don't even show any of their real skills. It is a mill. I didn't pass the duck walk either. I take a knee or squat when looking under the trailer. So do many of US Xpress drivers I bet. But that silly box you have to go through saved me from more problems I am sure...

I guess my expectations of an orientation is to introduce you to your new employer, not decide if they want you. To me that's the only justification for busing you there. I can halfway understand them not wanting me, but the way those other two were treated was unconscionable.
I didn't feel like a corralled animal simply because the guy in charge couldn't corral anything. There were activities in conflict with one another and no one knew where they were supposed to be because you were expected to be in both places. I wonder why somebody with that company wouldn't want to weed him out.

What is amazing is the applicant sitting next to me couldn't understand simple instructions. Any time we were explained something as a group, he needed it repeated and explained. The girl next to him had to help fill out his paperwork for him, and I am not sure if he could read well. The nurses were frustrated with him because he still didn't understand what they were telling him. He kept making them repeat themselves. In the past ten years I have built and sold 2 successful businesses, completed NC Police Academy, had 14 officers under my command, and am 4 credits short of a college degree. I wanted a career change so I paid 5000.00 to train and get a CDL which I passed easily. I have a spotless criminal record, a clean motor vehicle record, will pass any drug test known to man, and have a killer work ethic. But I am almost 6'3, size 15 foot, and a belly on me. So I didn't do their duck walk, but the guy who couldn't even fill out his own paperwork is probably still with them today. Oh well.
By the way, the 3 stooges photo is hilarious! True, but hilarious. -
Wild Murphy, I think I know that guy! If it is who I think it is,That was nothing been dealing with worse than that for 11 years on the phone.

You don't remember the first name do you?
-
I don't remember, but we were assigned seats in alphabetical order so his last name would have started with, A,B,C, or D.
