Nobody made you read it . . . unless there's someone there with a gun to your head. Do we need to call 911 for you? Are you in peril? Tap once for yes or twice for no. Don't worry partner. Sherriff's Department's on the way. They'll get you outta there. I warned you it was gonna be long. Caveat Emptor. You are a bit long winded yourself you know.Funning with you. Don't go get all mad or anything. Just playing with you.
Agreed.
That is an interesting bit of info. Thanks. I'll field test it in my rig. You must admit, though, each unit performs a little differently. They can be spec'd identical and have sequential VIN's and still perform just a little differently. Add to that previous drivers and that's why I always put the Caveat: "My experience with this rig." I'll definitely test your theory on my rig though and thanks.
Agreed. They do help but they are not the "end all - silver bullet" to MPG. Driver and drivetrain performance knock that out the park a lot more than strictly aerodynamics do. That's for sure and the biggest one in that area is the ability to not idle fuel out the stacks.
Not quite sure I get that one. I beg to differ. The strain the engine works under does affect MPG fairly much. You get much better MPG empty than loaded. That's what I was meaning by engine load. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding you on this point.
Thought about it. I'm not advocating any particular style. Just sharing what my rig does and how it does best. I like Cats for power. Can't out pull a Cat for sure. They do love them some fuel (and oil) though. ISX was/ is a pretty good compromise between power and economy. Some sacrifices on both. Detroit does a darned good job with flat economy but mine has a real hard time pulling a 4% uphill without gearing down. Definitely economy over power with a Detroit which would have to be factored if running lots of hills. I think marrying it to a 13 speed would help out there.
Nice. Much happiness for them. Thanks for the post my man. I'll let you know how your ideas work on my particular setup. Remember, though. We are all about keeping as much in our pockets as we can but the VERY foremost thought we all have is making sure we do everything we can to keep an accident from happening. Be safe my friend. Always be safe.
