Ya.....Anyways, once you get your truck you will need a CB for sure. I am at a shipper right now where without a CB, you will sitting in line for a very long time or walking the 1/2 to the security office to check in and sit and wait until they get to you, LOL. Having a CB allows you to check in very fast and get directions on what they want you to do.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the 1/2 mile walk. I try and get out and walk as much as possible. Just not the best thing when dealing with a customer for checking in and all.

Will like a small cobra cb do the trick like the 140.00 model? And do u need an antenna also or do the trucks have them already?

Dan G I think the trucks are equipt, no antenna needed, and you could buy a cheapy CB just for this purpose. If I am wrong someone will chime in. I think you could find one for $60 or so

Thanks man.. I am only asking because where I work now I have access to buying wholesale so what would be 150 retail I can probably pick up for about 80 bucks... I had a feeling the trucks were ready to go but if not I'm sure someone will say so.... Keeps us updated on how your training goes I will be right behind you...

All (legal) CBs put out the same power (4W) on the same channels. The more expensive radios simply add frills that aren't really needed.

The cheap ones work just fine for talking to the guard shack/dispatcher, and finding out "what's going on on the northbound side".

Nearly all trucks do provide some sort of CB antenna, though you may find that someone blew out the splitter by hooking an "export" radio to it.

You might want to wait about buying things like the sleeping bag till you get to Springfield, you can get things at the Walmart there. The Prime store also has things that you might need that you can't get at Walmart, like thermometers.

azsteve and Dan G Thank this.

If you get a sleeping bag, don't get one of those arctic ones good for -40; you're not sleeping outside. I used a cheap queen size quilt from Walmart that I used sleeping bag style. Laid on one half; pulled the other half over me. Brought it from home; took very little space in the duffel.

It has been a year or so ago that one of the newer truckers posted that he got a violation going through MN for having a sleeping bag on his bed instead of a blanket and sheets. Haven't heard nothing lately about MN and their being a pain.
