i don't think it's going to happen as soon as was planned. as it seems to have been put on the back burner. we'll just have to wait and see after the elections.

I like to answer people's questions. Sometimes people ask your opinion, then want to argue with you. This is a waste of time.
E-Logs are what they are. If you cannot handle them then you might as well look for s new line of work. It is a matter of time until we are all subject to E-Logs and EOBR's. I don't like this, but denial doesn't change the facts.
Eventually they will probably require video recording cams in the truck to be certain you are doing what your log says.... nothing would surprise me.
For an industry that is supposed to be de-regulated there seems to be nothing but regulations. It is no wonder there is a driver shortage.Last edited: Aug 20, 2014

HOS is the same elog or paper. It sounds to me as if many drivers are actually against the HOS rules, they were just okay with them as long as they could lie on paper. I mean if you're out of hours 40 miles from home paper or elog you're out of hours.

Yes the HOS are the same whether paper or electronic. People dislike the E Logs because they dislike having themselves programmed and regulated. Especially where the stupid 30 minute BS break is concerned.
It is also disturbing that the 14 hour rule might make the difference in getting home or not.
We would probably all rather be able to adjust our status a little to avoid some of the stupid things which are forced upon us.
However, the fact is that the regs do exist, and we must comply. To try to fight the inevitable is futile. HOS and the misguided BS break is what we have to live with. It would be nice to be able to turn back the clock to the "good old days" but they are gone forever.
The future promises even more regulation. So simply put we must decide to comply or get out of trucking.
Since I am old and tired of fighting I have chosen to comply so far.
Good luck to you in whatever choice you make. -
fuzzeymateo and gokiddogo Thank this.

What are these opportunities? Has OOIDA stopped the regulations? Have all of the countless court cases stopped them?
What is your big plan? I am not a defeatist but a realist living in the real world. Your can beat you chest and pretend you are Tarzan.... while you comply or lose your livelihood.
Talk is cheap.... what's your plan?????
Now that you have "shown up" what are you going to do? Tell us your big plan and many other defeatists might follow you to a blazing victory!
Let's hear about your "opportunities" and your plans. Like all the other big mouths all you have is talk... no plan... no action! Let's read your plan? How is it progressing?? Are you in the process of winning the battle?
Can't wait to read your battle strategy.Gunner75 Thanks this. -

A little context for the remarks: OOIDA and individuals are doing all they can even as we speak.....to delay and challenge the EOBR rule. It's not final yet. My congressional delegation has heard from me multiple times on this as well as other issues. There may YET be an exemption for single vehicle motor carriers.
It's not "me" showing up.....it's "us". Too many times the vocal, whacko minority has made all the noise....and had legislation go in their favor. The environmental movement is a prime example. To lay down and do nothing is not an option.........
I am not beating my chest or looking for a following anywhere..........but when anyone just breezes in....declares something as final and done when it is NOT yet......it irks me. You need to breathe a little........calm down.........and realize some other point of view besides your own might actually have some validity. -
It was you who wrote of opportunities, and showing up.
Now since you have shown up, what is your plan?
If the established regulations are changeable what is your plan?
I don't need to calm down, you are the one who said defeatists like myself make you sick. Well then answer the simple question Rambo.... where is your plan?
Since you insisted there are "plenty of opportunities" and that I am a defeatist.... tell us your plan.
You say that a point of view other than my own "might have some validity" and I agree. Let's hear your plan.... maybe it indeed has some validity!
Why don't you give us your plan, so we can all see how valid it is???
You say that the regs aren't final yet? But those regulations that ARE final were also challenged in court.
So... tell us your plan.... please! -
If you are gonna quote me; make it accurate, because I did not say that.
You are wanting to make this personal........lose the insults and the attitude. It doesn't work here.
