I don't drive for Prime, but the last 2 months I've averaged 9.5 mpg running 60mph. I get home every weekend for a 34, so hours don't really matter much. But the truth comes down to the fact that running faster will bring home more per day, but less per load.
Honestly, the #1 thing you get from slowing down is less stress. It will reduce how much you care about the other people passing you, or the people you pass. It reduces the volatility of paychecks. It gives you the option to speed up if it will help avoid a collision.
I guess if you want to be bothered by how slow someone is going, go ahead, but you probably care more about it than them.
Also, I'm not the kind of person to gamble with my rent check. I'd rather get the sure money today, than bet on whether I'll be able to get more loads later in the week. It's a lot easier to control where your money goes, than where it comes from.
Prime has the SLOWEST sorry trucks on the road today, it's not even close

Number is 417-521-3200. That's a main number, ask for the safety dept.
They could give you a better explaination of why we go do Slow.
also it would be better to talk to them rather than the polluted world of internet message boards . -

they try to get you to go slow so Prime can make a lot more money off the drivers, as simple as that.
That .01-.03 cent fuel bonus doesn't come out to much when you think how many more hours it took you to drive that week by going slow. -
slow makes me so unstressed, i fall asleep. so i'll stick with fast. keeps me awake and alert. -
Someone asked why Prime drivers are encouraged to drive slow, and Safety will give a better answer than any yahoo, including myself, around here. -
A company guy averaging
around 8.5 mpg brings home an extra
$5k per year. In my operation it's about $22,000 per year.
You need to quit assuming that every carrier is as screwed up as USA Truck. BTW... you didn't start at 65-CPM out of school. That's BS.
