Funny, I picture him as a guy that comes and sits next to you while you're eating breakfast and asks how you're doing and has a conversation with you. Probably since that has happened to me a couple of times.

Is it fuel or that they can't handle the truck above 55 mph.

1964???? REALLY???? Were you even alive in 1964? Totally different world in '64 with different problems, and certainly different traffic conditions. And zero bearing on today.

If you want to go fast then just say so. With less than 1 year experience I hope you have a clue about what you're doing. Understand this... you will encounter slower traffic wherever you go, and most of it will not have "Prime" painted on the back of it... more than likely it will be on 4-wheels. As far as "impeding traffic" is concerned, I've been driving a lot longer than you and have never been accused of that by anyone in a position of legal authority. The cops seem more concerned with the guys at or above the upper limit which is a MAXIMUM... not a requirement. Either learn to deal with it or turn in your CDL.

Lets see, you go accusing "my point" doesn't hold "validity", so then I bring up an example from an article from carinsurance.com showing it's not "my point" but rather a well known fact of safety.
Which then you disregard as well.
A truck going 50MPH in a 70MPH zone is the same no matter what time in history it is. It's unsafe to be impeding traffic.
Then again you try to make it about me and having less than a year of experience in CDL world, when this has nothing to do with me or CDL world.. even in 4 wheeler world it is not safe to be impeding traffic. Most ALL semi's that impede traffic on the road I've encountered on the road are Prime trucks. That concern and frustration is what lead me to writing to thread wondering why it is happening.

Another driver brought up that concern of safety as well regarding Prime.

I could bring up more articles and quotes regarding safety and impeding traffic but it's obvious now that's pointless. You attempt and turn things on me when I've just tried to brought up safety facts which you disregard. This is not about me "wanting to go fast" which immature to be accusing me of.... I would expect more maturity and concern of safety from someone experienced.

Then would you please explain how a Prime tanker "blew the doors off" of my 62 MPH Swift company truck the other day?

Once in a while you do see one that will run....I wonder if it was one that may have just got worked on at a dealer and the computer was reset or something ?!?

Lease and owner-op trucks are set at 65 mph. The tanker guys have very favorable aerodynamics, and can maintain higher speeds and mpgs at the same time. I'll run in the fifties when I can for increased profit from lower costs, but if the schedule requires it, I'll run 65. It just leaves so dang much money on the table for the oil companies when you run fast for no particular reason except to make some rookie behind you happy.

I pull a flat for Maverick, my mpg per quarter this year has been 7.25, 7.57 and currently at 7.39....in a Cascadia.....most of our guys are above 7, were limited to 65mph and I run 65 all the time......

I run from the Atlantic Ocean to I35......

So what about the opposite? Speed limit is 55 and trucks going 70. Is that safe?
