A 15mph over in a non commercial vehicle, how would it affect my cdl ?
-
Everything is tied together now. You won't get a penalty against your CDL, but trucking companies are required to consider it during the employment process.
-
I believe you are wrong on that. You only have one license now, a ticket in car or truck is a ticket on your CDL. No justice for us drivers.Express12$ and baha Thank this.
-
Yep , they figure a cdl holder is a " proffesional" and should know better , u do in fact have only one license, and cdl holders tend to get slammed harder regardless of what you were driving at the time , maybe that's why there is always a big push to " train " newbs ? To replace those lost to attrition, ?yep googled that word , its the correct one . It might be a , / little strong but , / I gonna leave it at that ,
NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
I think that's what I said. 15 over in your personal vehicle won't trigger any of the crap that hits when your in a commercial vehicle. You have to report it to your carrier, and a new employer has to be informed as well.
-
15 over is a serious violation without any regards to the vehicle you are in. Ever notice how your MVR only indicates infractions and not the type of vehicle you were driving? It is because it doesn't matter. Get a ticket for 16 over today in your car, and if you had one for 18 over on your motorcycle 2 1/2 years ago, you WILL be DQ'd for having 2 serious violation convictions within a 3 year period even though NONE of them were in a CMV.
You are SUPPOSED to be a professional. Act like it.Express12$ Thanks this. -
CHalk this up as hopefully a lessen learned.the fact remains was speeding thru a construction zone.NO load is that important is it?I would"not try and fight it.You may get it somewhat reduced but not by much and will still have points as well as an outstanding lawyer cost.
-
This is incorrect. According to FMCSR 383.51(c), the only way for a 2nd serious violation in a non CMV to result in the disqualification of a CDL is if it also results in the "revocation, cancellation, or suspension" of the regular drivers license. If that occurs it is a 60 day DQ for a 2nd serious violation, and a 120 day DQ for a 3rd serious violation.
