S,
Whats wrong with the audio? You can actually turn rhe unit on if you see an incident etc..and say your part...good or bad.. your truck is not your home. It belongs to whoever you drive for...just ask them. Again its a hot topic...
Dave
Camera's are coming to a truck near you or Yours.

Your truck may not be your home. But tell me what do you call a place you spend more then 300 days a year in?
-
You know you can also look at it the other way... IT COVERS YOUR ### when a soccer mom doesn't look and drives right into you. You have video proof you did NOTHING wrong so they cannot ding up your CDL.
Personally i see the pros and cons of it look at the driver... The companies want to cover their ### so if you fall asleep at the wheel and kill someone they can throw you under the truck. At the same time if you did nothing wrong or did everything in your power to not kill someone you have evidence that you were not asleep.
Hell i am just about to start school and even if they do not put a dashcam in my truck i will buy one and put it there myself just to cover my own ###. -
And if you want to you can buy your own camera to cover your self with. Dash cams are for sale in every major truck stop in the country and online, and with that handy piece of hardware you can control what comes out the truck your in without sacrificing your rights or privacy. So why pay a third party company to judge you with money that could go to safe well equipped drivers?

8,
I understand that...but is that really your company policy..always both hand on the wheel? Really? Did your trainer do that day in day out..no. I think alot of people are really over thinking this...
Dave -
Not to be rude but its my opinion your under thinking this.Westenntrucker Thanks this.

like i said i see both sides, there is NO reason they need to record audio IMO, audio is what can get them in trouble anyways as far as the wire tapping laws go. Personally i do not want a cam looking at me while i'm driving... hell i would be too tempted to pick my nose just to see if someone is watching. Dash cams i 100% agree with, driver facing cams i do not agree with.

Swift is going to put cameras in all trucks then.... JB Hunt, Prime, Schneider, Gordon, Heartland, Stevens, Maverick, and on and on... Is going to be a Domino effect just like E-logs were....
"semi" retired and Chewey Thank this. -
at the same time, isn't that how everyone ended up with a raise???Chewey Thanks this.

Umm yes you would have a problem finding a lawyer willing to do it. You would have a huge problem finding one actually. This is because any lawyer you could find would know that it is not a violation of any federal or state wiretapping laws for a company to place cameras and recording devices in equipment they own.
